✴I'm Fine. I Promise✴
Eleanor lies in she and Jim's bed, where she has been all day. she sighs rolling over onto her side facing her nightstand, she smiles seeing the picture that sits on it, a picture of she and Jim on their wedding day in the backyard of her childhood home, where they held the wedding.
The door to their bedroom opens, Eleanor looks over her shoulder at the door and sees a disheveled Jim walk in, hair all over the place and shirt torn up, holding one of his boots.
"Oh my god, what happened to you?" she says, slowly getting into a sitting position.
"Let's just say the treaty meeting with the Teenaxi didn't go too well." he says, walking over and opening the closet he shuffles through the shirts that hang in it, even though they're all the same yellow Starfleet uniform shirts.
"But that's not all that's bothering you." Eleanor says, watching him with a sad look.
Pulling on his new shirt, he looks over at his wife, she pats the next to her on the bed, he sighs and sits down next to her. Eleanor shuffles closer to her husband, and rakes her fingers through his hair, putting it back in place, making him sigh, but more with contentment this time.
"Are you still having doubts?" she says, placing her hand on the side of his face.
"I just don't know what I'm doing anymore, what all of us are doing anymore. What are we working towards?" he says.
Eleanor is quiet for a moment, "You've got something else to say, don't you?" she asks.
Jim sighs and continues to look down at his hands, Eleanor gently turns his head to look at her, "Jim, what is it?" she softly asks again.
"I was wondering, how you would feel if I sent in a application for a vice admiral position?" he asks, searching her face for her reaction.
Her eyes widen a little, she really didn't expect that, then again this had been weighing on him for some time, he had to have given this a lot of thought. She wonders if her father ever had these thoughts or doubts like Jim has, and if so, how did her mother handle it, what would she have done?
"Well, I know you had to have given this a lot of thought, you wouldn't just want to do something like this on a whim." she says, having him nod his head in agreement, "So, I'll say wherever you go, I'll go." she finishes with a smile.
Jim looks at his wife in amazement, really she amazed him sometimes.
"I love you." he says sincerely.
She smiles, leaning in she softly kisses him, "I love you more." she says back, resting her forehead against his.
They are both quiet for a moment, just enjoying the moment.
"How are you feeling?" Jim asks, breaking the silence.
"Bit better, still a little nauseous though." she answers.
"Have you seen Bones yet?".
She stays silent, "Eleanor?" he says in a disapproving tone.
"What? I'm fine, I just feel a little nauseous that's all." she says, trying to defend herself.
"Okay, but if it's not gone by the time I get back you're seeing him." he says with a sigh.
"Fine." Eleanor sighs herself, laying back down.
Jim gives her a small smile, leaning over towards her, he gives her a chaste kiss "I have to go to the bridge now, I'll see you soon." he says, getting up and heading to the door.
