"What? Did you say something?" I ask.

"Nope not a word,"

"Uh okay," the bell rings and I head to my locker. I meet up with Nadine at her locker, then head for the doors to walk home. We found shortcuts to our houses so now we don't have to take the bus, and we also found out that we live only a couple houses apart from each other! I'm so glad I met Nadine and John. They are both my close friends and they live so close. My urge to find friends is at ease, thankfully.

"I'll walk over at 6:30 okay?" I remind her. She keeps forgetting about the football game tonight, so I have to remind her. I also tell her to tell John I said hi and to ask him about the project but she gives me his number. I almost gasped at the idea of having his phone number but I keep my calm and shoot him a text

B: Hey John? It's me Bella. I was wondering if we're still on tomorrow to work on the project.

J: yeah we're still on.

B: okay great! Bye!

I hate when people left me on open but he didn't do it to make me mad, I don't think. Anyways, I check the time and it's 4:00 so I take a brisk shower and get ready for the game tonight! I can't wait to see Jace play football! I'm hoping seeing him tonight can maybe break this invisible barrier he has planted between us... I don't want him to be afraid of me. I can't control that at all, but I wish we could just talk normally, the way I talk to John. The only difference between John and Jace (as much as I hate to compare them) is that John is hard to be around. Every time he takes a step near me I feel my heart pump fast. And he's able to take my breath away, something no one else can do,  but Jace and I have so much in common and he's good in school and doesn't ever start anything on purpose. He's so sweet and he's super adorable. I couldn't ever not be friends with either of them, they're both too nice...

I curl my hair and make two half up half down pig tails on the top of my head I put a green and purple ribbon on each side, representing our school colors. My dad isn't home until Sunday for work, so I may ask if I can sleep over Nadine's this weekend. I text my dad and let him know about what's going on this weekend. This would have been much easier if my mother was around, but too bad she messed everything up. He left me money for food this weekend and I order pizza. I wait patiently for the food to come and I hear a knock on my door. I go up to the wooden door and open it up to see John standing towards the back front of my deck- far from the door.

"He.. Hey John what's up?"

"I was just wondering what you're doing tonight," he soothed. I feel my body heat up as always and my cheeks begin to redden. He walks closer to the door, at a slow pace.

"I.. I'm... uh I'm going to the football game tonight" I stumble out.

"Oh."

"Uh is everything okay Johnny Cake?"

"What? What was that?" I didn't even realize I said that but I look up at Johns face and he's lightened up quite the amount.I notice his eyes have widened and he has this cute little smirk on his face.I'm glad I made him somewhat happy. I notice him pulling at his black tee and his other hand is picking at a rip on his light wash jeans.

"Do you think you want to come to the game with me and Nadine?" I ask, hoping for a yes. I love Nadine, don't get me wrong, but I don't want to be the only one listen to her talk about Josh over and over.

"No, not really. Footballs not my thing,"

"Aww okay. You sure?"

"Yeah. I'll see you tomorrow," he winks then walks down the stairs of the deck. I didn't realize how excited I am for tomorrow, being able to talk to him and figure out our song sounds really good right now. I hear another knock, hoping it's John again, but's it's just my pizza. I pay him and eat my pizza quickly so I can make it to Nadine's on time.
