Taemin's POV

When we first moved here, my mom said that she was "over my dad" and that "we would start a new life without him." Those were her words that she promised to me when we left, What was broken would be fixed, any sour feelings towards anyone would be replaced with happiness. She even destroyed any memory of him, melting her wedding ring, cutting him out of any framed picture, deleting every picture of him off of our phones, and even deleting all of our contacts of him. It was enough to make me at least feel like we had a normal family...

This all ended this morning, when my dad invited her to the wedding for him and the girl he cheated on my mother with. With that came a battle of insult she hurled his way and an argument that ended with my mother hanging up on the phone. She then locked herself in her room and drank any bottle of alcohol in her reach. Once I heard a body hit the floor I quickly grabbed a knife and turned the lock the door (from the inside) around so that I could enter the door.

I saw my mom passed out with a bottle in her hand...I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and dialed 911 and explained everything as tears started falling. In a couple of minutes I heard the siren of an ambulance. They put my mother on a gurney and transported her onto the ambulance. I then grabbed my stuff and went to the ambulance and sat in the back seat with tear stained eyes as I waited to reach the hospital.
                                  ~
After sitting in a chair outside of my mothers hospital room for almost forever I was finally told that I could come in:

"Hey, Lee Taemin. You can finally come in and see your mother" A familiar voice said once he opened the door and popped his face out.

"Oh hi...."I said with my voice trailing off.

"Well I know you have been waiting for a while, but your mother is fine. She just has to stay in the hospital for a week or so" Dr. Kim said in hopes of cheering me up, but I'm still sad because I know that our lives will always go back to my father and we will never truely be free from him.

"Do you want to see your mother?" Dr. Kim says, breaking me out of my negative thoughts as I quickly wipe the rest of my tears and knod my head and walk into the hospital room.

Once I was close enough to my mom I smelt her once sweet aroma that was now replaced with the smell of alcohol. I saw how pale her skin was from all of the drinks she drank. It was like all of the color from her skin had been drained and taken away from her. She had dark droopy bags hanging down from her eyes, she had some dried up tear streaks down her face. The rest of her body was really frail had a lot of wrinkles and honestly looked lifeless. I held her hand and felt how cold the temperature was and it was honestly a miracle that she is still living.

"T-Thank y-you" I croaked trying not to cry again and Dr. Kim flashed me a sympathetic smile and patted me on the back.

"Do you want to go to school? Or stay here with your mother" Dr. Kim asked as I looked up from the ground to look at him.

"I-I'm fine going to school, it just might take a bit to ajust to my mom being in the hospital" I finally say as I go into the hallway to grab my backpack and school supplies.

"Are you sure that you want to walk to school alone? It's pretty far, and I can call your father to pick you up" Dr. Kim calls out to me as I haul my backpack onto my back.

"No I'm fine. Thanks again" I shout back to him as I walk in the direction to school.
