That Skating Nerd

The last class of the day. Why is it when I actually have thing to do after school the day seem to take a year? I, as sneaky as possible, poke my phone out of my hoodie pocket to look at the time.
2:50PM
10 more minutes. I groan and lay my head on my desk. I then remember Peridot is in my last class period. Right behind me actually... I bite my lip and turn around. "Psst! Peridot!"

The blond skater raises her head and looks at me, a look of confusion sparked into her eyes. It's then I completely forget what I was gonna say. I bite the inside of my cheek and stare at her, she raises her eyebrows in a 'Go on' fashion. I pull an awkward smile, "Hey.."

Peridot snorts and giggles. I feel my face burn, she then smiles back at me. "Hey." I just nod and turn back around.

Good job, Lapis.

I jump when the bell rings, and then jump again when I feel a hand placed on my shoulder. I look up and see the skater. I blush a light pink.

"You still up for going to the skate park?" She asks and cocks her head to the side. I smile, "Yep!" I notice how over joyed she got, a bright beaming smile placed upon her face. Showing off cute dorky dimples. "Well then lets go!" She almost screams. I chuckle and jump out of my set. We then set off downstairs to get to our lockers since. I jogged to my locker and threw my stuff into the rectangle. Then turn to Peridot, whom had done the same thing. She also was able to stuff two skate boards into the locker, in one hand she had the one I saw her with at Zumiez yesterday. In the other is a lime green skateboard were the graphic is worn off exposing a wood color, along with both tails of the board. I walk up to her and stand there awkwardly.

"Will you be okay using this one?" She holds up the worn down broad, I nod, "I don't have a problem with that." Peridot nods and hands the board to me, I gently take it and hold it by my side. Peridot starts walking and I follow beside her.

"Do you know how to ride a skateboard?" The skater raises her head up to me. I, embarrassed, shake my head no. Peridot nods, "No problem. It's easy to teach, and you seem smart. You'll be able to pick it up in no time." She flashes a smile. We walk out of the school and start walking down the street. I notice Peridot pull out her phone, "Hey do you wanna listen to some music as we walk?" I smile, "Yeah, sounds good." She responds with a nod and then opens an app and starts up a song. Upon hearing the guitar strum I know the song, a song I've loved since I can remember. I know the song by heart and just can't help myself when hearing it. I start to quietly sing along with the song.

"Hey baby won't you look my way? I can be your new addiction~ Hey baby what you gotta say?All you're giving me is fiction~" I smile and keep up with the song. "I'm a sorry sucker and this happens all the time~I found out that everybody talks. Everybody talks, everybody talks!" My voice starts to get louder as the song gets louder, "It started with a whisper~! And that was when I kissed her! And then she made my lips hurt~ I could hear the chit chat! Take me to your love shack~ Mamas always gotta back track. When everybody talks back!" I start bobbing my head and my smile beams. "Hey honey you could be my drug~ You could be my new prescription! Too much could be an overdose~! All this trash talk make me itchin'! Oh my my, Everybody talks, everybody talks! Everybody talks, too much..." I bang my head as the beat drops. I then start to sing the rest of the song loudly. Forgetting about the one person audience I have.

That is, until I heard a quiet, "Oh my god..." Over my shoulder. I blush an extremely dark burgundy. I whip my head around and look down at the blonde, phone in hand. I bite my tongue and rub the back of my neck. "S-Sorry... I just really like that song for some reason..." Peridot just stares at me with wide eyes. She then says, "Holy shit, Lapis. You can sing." I make a 'pffft' sound in response. "Nahh..." I protest. Peridot flails her arms, "NAH MY ASS! Lapis that was amazing!" I bite my lip.

"Uhh.. Thanks.." I half smile. It's then I notice a small blush spread on the skaters cheeks.

We had just arrived to the skate park. And thankfully for me there was barley anyone there. So if I embarrassed myself it wouldn't be that bad.

"Well basics first. Do you skate goofy or regular?" Peridot speaks and I turn to her with the biggest look of utter confusion. "Goofy or regular?" I'm such a loser. "Regular means that the left foot is placed forward, while goofy means that the right foot is placed forward. You place your dominate foot on the back, I skate goofy since my left foot is dominate." Peridot explains to me, but I still feel like an idiot. "How would I know which foot is my dominate foot?"

"What hand do you use to write?" She asks. "My right..." I say, slightly confused. "Then you would skate regular, and have your right foot on the back. Since you want your stronger foot to do the pushing." She explains. I nod and set down the skateboard she had given me to use. Then stand on it, placing my feet sideways. Left foot in the front and right in the back. My feet standing on the spot the trucks would be.

"Good, adjust your feet a little though. Your right foot should be closer to the tail while your left should be more towards the middle. You don't want your feet lined up with the trucks." She demonstrates what she is telling me on her own board. I nod and adjust my feet to the position she is telling me to preform. She smiles, "Good. Now watch me, well, watch my feet." I nod and look down towards her feet. She takes her left foot and pushes off the ground. Simple enough. "Now you go." She pops off the board, Hitting the tail and swiftly grabbing the nose. I take my right foot and push off the ground, and then feel a small breeze hit me. I then however, lose my balance and almost fall off the board. I jump off the board instead of embarrassing myself.

"Good save." Peridot chuckles and I blush, still kinda embarrassed. The blonde catches the run away board and shoves it back to me. I stop it with my foot. "You still have to use your left foot, when your pushing you want you left foot to face forwards and when your not pushing its sideways on the board. When you pushed you left it sideways and that is why you lost balance." She then shows me how I should move my feet when pushing. "Here, don't push. But try to move your feet how I showed you."

I put my right foot on the ground and then turn my left foot to face forward. "Like that?" I ask, turning my head to Peridot. She smiles a goofy smile, "Exactly that. Now put your right foot back and move the left foot sideways." I nod and then follow her instructions. She smiles and pats my shoulder, I then see her take off on her skateboard. Doing the moves with her feet so flawlessly. Like she was bred to do this. "Now see if you can do it!" She shouts from down the strip on concrete. I take a deep breath and push off the ground with my right foot, doing the moves with my left foot. It was a little sketchy, but I felt I was doing better then I thought I would have done. I slowly reach were Peridot I rode her skateboard to. I stick out my right foot and stomp it onto the ground stopping myself.

Peridot give me a bright warm smile. "Told ya, you got this!" I blush and smile at her. This is the best day ever.

Okay, so... I'm sorry for not updating this book for awhile. Life has been hectic the past few months. However, I only have 9 more days of school then I'm out for the summer.
