A/N: So, this isn't the first fanfiction I've written, but it is the first that I've posted. It is smutty in later chapters, so if you don't like that kind of stuff, you've been warned. There is mention of depression also. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy The Baker :)

Ugh. I wish this line would go faster! I have to be at work in…15 minutes! Shit! I’ll never get my coffee in time, but then again, I really do need it to function. Cassie let out a loud sigh as she impatiently waited for the asshole in front of the line to order. She was near the back with just a few people trailing behind, but she hardly noticed. She just wanted her damn coffee. She heard a sigh, almost equally as loud as hers, behind her and a deep voice following it, grumbling, “This bugger is taking forever.” Suddenly, the deep voiced man behind her shouted, “Um, excuse me! Some of us have to be at work soon!” Cassie didn’t know what the man looked like, but damn did he have a sexy voice. His shouting seemed to do the trick though, because the asshole finally ordered his drink and stepped to the side with reddened cheeks. The whole line applauded the deep voiced man, including Cassie. She turned around while clapping and saw that he was looking at her. She gradually stopped clapping with everyone, but never took her eyes off this man. How could she? He was gorgeous. His eyes had her in a trance as soon as she saw them. They were a blue, green color with speckles of gold in them. His other features included tousled brown hair, sharp cheekbones, and cupid bow lips. Wow, she thought. I’m so glad I moved to London. It seemed like forever had passed before the man finally spoke to her, saying, “The line’s moved up.” Cassie reluctantly averted her eyes to the line and saw that it was almost her turn to order. She quickly moved up and muttered to the man, “Sorry.” A deep chuckle rumbled through his chest as he said, “That’s all right.” A guy who was ordering in front of her was taking all the time in the world, kind of like the first guy, but she was easily distracted when the sexy brit behind her asked, “Excuse me, but have we met before?” Cassie turned around and said, “Um…no I don’t believe so.” He looked at her with furrowed eyebrows and said, “Hm. Strange. I could’ve sworn I’ve seen you before. Of course, with a pretty face like that, I most certainly would have remembered. Plus, there aren’t many American’s here.” Wow. Quite the flirtatious one, aren’t we, sir? Two can play at that game. “Well, believe me when I say that I would have most defiantly remembered you…” “Benedict, but call me Ben,” he said, sticking out his hand. She shook it, while saying, “Cassandra, but call me Cassie.” “Cassie,” he repeated to himself. “Now I know I’ve heard that name somewhere, but I’m not quite sure. I know it’s a very rare name in the UK.” “It’s popular in Italy. Maybe you’ve been there and heard it?” He shook his head, “No. Like I said, I would have remembered you.” He gave her an adorable smirk and sexy wink that almost made her knees buckle. They stared at each other for a few moments, before she heard behind her, “Uh…miss?” She shot around to see a gap between her and the barrista. “Sorry,” she told him and walked up to the counter. “Can I get a caramel macchiato, please?” “And a plain black coffee, please,” that deep voice said right beside her. Cassie turned to see Ben laying a twenty down on the counter. He looked at her and said, “Allow me.” “I can’t let you do that, Ben,” she told him. He pretended to think, then said, “Too late.” Next thing she knew, their coffee’s were set down in front of them. He gave her shit eating grin and handed her the drink, while saying, “Your caramel macchiato, my lady.” They both stepped off the side, while she told him, “Thank you, but you really shouldn’t have.” “Why not? I wanted to treat you, so I did.” “But you don’t even know me.” He smiled and said softly, “Yes, but I’d like to. How about, as payment, you sit and have coffee with me?” Cassie was about to tell him yes, but then she remembered work. “Oh,” she breathed. Disappointment immediately swept across Ben’s face. “I’m sorry,” she told him, “but I have to be getting to work soon. How about a rain check?” Ben nodded, then smirked. “I’d like that,” he said. “Will you be here tomorrow? Perhaps a little earlier?” Cassie thought for a moment, then said, “What time?” “Mmmm…maybe around eight-ish? That way we can have a conversation without rushing off.” “All right,” she told him with a smile. “I’ll see you tomorrow at eight then.” “It’s a date,” he smiled. They bid their goodbyes for now and Cassie walked out into the damp streets of London. A few blocks later, she abruptly stopped and thought, Wait. Did he say date? She smiled like a school girl, who just got asked out by the high school quarterback and practically skipped off to work.
