Once my shift ended, I started heading towards my mother's work. It takes about 20 minutes to walk there. While walking I saw multiple fathers walking, talking, or playing with their sons. 'They look like they really get along' I thought with a half smile. (You know that smile when you want to smile because it makes you happy, but sad at the same time.) I continued on to my mom's working establishment. Once I arrived, I went to the back to wait for my mom's shift to come to an end. While I was waiting I had a few chats with other workers when they would pass by, they had gotten use to me coming in and waiting for mom over the years. "So, (M/N) has been talking about you getting accepted into UA. Congrats kid." said Mr. Glass. (Mr. Glass is your mom's boss) "Thank you, sir." I said while giving a slight bow. "No thanks necessary, all of us here know how hard you worked to get in to UA. So, you should be thanking yourself for being able to do all of those hours of gruelling training." He complimented. "Why thank you sir, for your kind words." I said with a half smile. 'I don't like compliments, sorry sir.' He had to get back to carrying boxes into the storel, so he started to leave until I asked, "May I help you get 'em?" "Of coares you can help. The more hands we have the faster the job is done." He responded with a smile. We started heading to the truck full of boxes and got to work. I started if by carrying 5 boxes and each trip I would increase my load by 1 box. Eventually I was carrying 20 boxes, 9 in each hand and two on my head. 'Balance... balance... walk a little faster...' After 5 minutes I made it to the drop off zone. 'Oh my goodness, I thought I was going to drop them for a minute.' I breathed a sigh of relief. "Hey! How many more boxes Mr. Glass?" I asked. "We have 5 more!" he hollered back. "I'll get them tell everyone else to go take a little break to ease their muscles!" I stated. "Fine! Just don't work yourself to hard! Alright!?" he yelled. "Okay!" I responded. Once I got the last boxes, I went and joined the others in the break room. While we were in there, they were cracking up jokes like a storm. I would say a couple here or there, and laugh at a couple of theirs. All in all we were having a great time. After 10 minutes we all decided we had done enough lolly-gagging. "So, anything else to lift Mr. Glass?" I asked. "Nothing else today. Just go wait for your mom she gets off in 5 minutes." He informed "But I thought she got off in half an hour?" I questioned. "She has been talking about celebrating with you all day. Also, you both have been overworking yourselves. Both of you could use the wind-down." he answered. "Thank you sir." I replied with a bow. "Just remember to enjoy yourselves." he said. Mom walked up to us. "Hey (N/N)! Oh, and thank you Mr. Glass for the early release." she said with a bow. "It's no problem Mrs. (L/N). You should enjoy quality time with your boy." he said with a joyous smile. "Still, thank you sir." mom said. "Come on (Y/N), lets get going." she continued "Okay mom." I said. We left her work while saying our farewells to the other employees.
