BONUS #2 | DEAR, ROMANTICS
"What happens if I fall?"
"What the hell are you talking 'bout?" Julian looks towards me and I felt the urge to roll my eyes, grabbing the nearest object to my left — which happens to be a fluff pillow — and throw into his direction. With my terrible aim, but with my boyfriend's close distance, I managed to hit him on the chest. I cross my arms, pouting.
"I'm trying to be a damn cliche romantic quote on Tumblr and you are terrible," I pout, causing Julian to laugh, attempting to move forward on our couch to give me what seems to be an attempt kiss. I pull back, moving my arms out to shield him from touching me. "Nope. You romantic-buzzkill, go die without a kiss."
"Harsh."
I pout, "sorry babe."
His eyes lights up and he attempts to get another kiss from me, only for me to shoot up from our couch and touching base with the cool wooden floor of our living room. "What did you wanted me to say?" Julian sighs exasperated, finding my reaction a bit childish (says the man that watches Cartoon Network at 3 am in the morning when he's supposed to be studying.)
"I don't know, something romantic!" I replied, gesturing out with my hands. "Maybe that you'll catch me—I don't know!"
"Why would I need to catch you?"
"Julian, you're helpless!" I sigh, throwing my hands in the air. I begin to walk over to the kitchen connected to our apartment, finding myself in need of a small snack to calm my irrational anger.
"Babe," Julian picks himself off of the couch and walks towards the kitchen. He leans against the refrigerator, blocking my path for grabbing a cold drink and forcing me to meet his eyes. "Emotions."
"I know, I know," I sigh, blowing a strand of short black hair from my vision. I exhale deeply, "I guess, when I was reading the quotes online last night, I just wanted to see what you would say. How you would respond? Safe to say, you're always surprising me."
Julian smiles, walking forward as he wraps his arms around my waist, colliding my back into his chest. He lowers his lips towards my ear, "how 'bout, you calm down, and we'll settle on the couch to watch a Marvel Marathon?"
I smile, holding his hands, "I thought you said you don't like Marvel movies."
"Yeah." He shrugs, "but I'm in love with a girl who does. So..."
I twirl in his grasp, facing him as I meet with his brown eyes. A smile pull to my lips. "Always surprising me."
Julian dips lower, pulling me against his chest and colliding our lips. The same warmth, despite the passing of two years since our first kiss, still settled in the pit of my stomach. The familiar feeling of the butterflies spreading across my body reminisce as I'm reminded of all the reasons why I fell for this boy.
He pulls apart, his breathing settling with mine as he stares back into my onyx eyes. "If you fall, I wouldn't be there to catch you. 'Cause, in all honesty, you would be there to catch yourself. If not, you pick yourself up. Then, if falling is a metaphor for love, and somehow made you scared. It wasn't with me. Because, our love is supposed to make you feel secure—not fear the risk of falling. So, to answer your question in my clueless effort—falling in love with me, shouldn't have been a concern to begin with or it was never meant to be."
I smile wider, finding his answer more perfect than the replies placed on the poetry. More realistic. And that's what I love about us.
As I was about to pull him back into another kiss, the door swings open, "I'm back!" Graham yells from the living room, causing us to spilt from our position—spreading almost metres apart. Graham walks into the kitchen, holding a bag of groceries as he sends a look between the two of us.
"You guys weren't doing something dirty while I was gone, were you?"
Julian sends me a glance, heats still residing in his cheeks, "and we gave him a key to our place for...?"
