My name is Miley Hayes. I'm 16 years old and I'm the 4th in our family of 10. Our family consists of 5 boys and 5 girls. The oldest, Zayne ~ 21 Carson ~ 19 Zoey ~ 18 James ~ 14 Olive ~ 12 Sailor ~ 10 Annalise ~ 8 Ike ~ 5 Lastly, Stella ~ 1 Stella has a birth defect called down syndrome. What is down syndrome you ask? Well to say it briefly, an average baby has 2 chromosomes in their DNA. But down syndrome kids have 3 chromosomes. So growing up, they will tend to learn things slower such as, crawling, walking, sitting up and even talking. It's not a bad thing she has downs nor is she any different than the rest of us. She has had 2 surgeries done in the past year, due to her heart defect. She has another surgery due in a few months. But since then she has been all smiles and most of the time, I can never be mad when she's around.
We all live in one house in Westchester, NY. A lot of us were born in Manhattan, but the rest were born here in Westchester. The city life can be difficult I will admit. Everything is very expensive and sometimes we wouldn't even have enough money to eat dinner.
My dad works as a doorman during the day while my mom stays at the house and homeschools us. You might be asking why did my parents decide to have 10 kids? Well, the truth is they never actually planned it. It sure was a surprise since both of them came from a small family. But I'm sure they don't regret any of it. Well, that's enough back story for one day! Until next time!
