Hey guys! Almost done with the Goblet of Fire.
It's taken me a long time to get though, but hey.
Anyway recap.
Last time, we woke up the night after the Yule Ball with Hermione. Then we helped Harry with his clue then watched the second task.
So, without further adieu, let's get to it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your POV...
I stand in the stands with Hermione and Ron. The crowd is going wild for the champions as they prepare for the final task. Kid is next to me along with Alice and even Little Bud has joined us on this occasion. Captain is off commanding the Illinois and Lt is readying his final defensive line. I get a sinking feeling in my stomach that something is going to go very wrong today. I feel like someone is going to die.
While I was a little spaced out, Dumbledor had announced the final tasks, which was to find the Tri-Wizard Cup in the maze. It wouldn't seem to hard to a muggle, but to a wizard, it would be like facing yourself. He gathers the champions around and talks to them for a minute then Harry and Cedric are sent in first. After a few minutes, Krum and Fluer are sent in and all we can do is wait. People begin to chatter about who would win and who would be the first to get out of the maze.
Most of what I can focus on is the sound of gunfire in the not-so-far distance.
"Sounds like Lt's making his last stand." I look over my shoulder and then to Hermione.
"Yeah. No kidding." Ron says. "When do you think the fighting will end?"
I bite my lip and look down. Ron hasn't been much for reading, and I know that, so he hasn't read the books that I have been writing. He has no idea about what all of what Lt is fighting for is about. He has no idea that Lt will not survive.
"Y/n?" I hear Hermione's voice.
I look at her. She understands and nods. I look over to Ron and say, "The fighting here will end once Lt is dead."
"You mean that?" Ron looks surprised.
"Yeah." I nod. "This is his predetermined final battle."
"Why?"
"The story goes on some how. Others have to step up. That's all I can say."
Ron nods and looks back to the maze. I feel Hermione lean into me and I hold her close.
Third POV...
As the group waits for the Champions to return, vicious fighting is taking place not to far behind them. Lt is no where to be found near the defense. He is currently in the maze, battling once again with his long time foe. Harry can hear the fighting from inside the maze. The clashing of metal on metal echos through each and every lane in the maze. Harry catches glimpses of what he thinks is Lt, but just as quickly as they appear, they disappear. Harry makes his way through the maze, still just trying to make it out alive.
Back at the battle, Tex leads the remnants of Easy Company in a last ditch defense to hold back the Russians. Bullets fly over head, large artillery shells land in almost rapid succession, and more and more bodies drop to the ground. Soldiers duck for cover or get caught up in the blasts as the battle rages around them.
"Where the hell is fourth!" Tex shouts as he pops up again, spraying bullets with his M-249.
"They are caught up on the right flank with seventh. They are under heavy assault and taking heavy casualties." Sanchez, Lt's radioman, reports.
