Chapter 19

A/N- NOTE!!! Major time jump to four years in the future!!

"Mommy" Four year old Alexander was at his mothers side of the bed trying to wake her. With only hearing the whisper from his lips Kate shot up.

"Buddy, are you ok?" He shook his head and started crying. Kate picked him up and his tiny arms immediately wrapped Around her neck, while his legs wrapped around her torso. Kate glanced at the clock, 2:30. She then looked at the sleeping form of her husband, yes husband. They had gotten married when Alexander was two. He was knocked out. Kate sighed and carried A.J. To the living room. She sat on the sofa and whispered into his ear. "What hurts baby?" Rubbing his back, Alexander lifted his head from where it was snuggled I to Kate. He pointed to his to back and head, then his throat.

"My tummy hurts the worst momma." Kate's heart shattered, she hated seeing her baby sick or hurt, she even got all flustered if he got a paper cut. Kate kissed his forehead and gathered his temperature. He was warm but not burning, probably from all the crying.

"Want to sleep with momma and daddy?" Kate asked wanting to make her son feel as best as possible. With a slow nod of his head, Kate rose from the couch and carried him back to her room. She was greeted with a sleepy Rick castle who was probably wondering where his wife was. Kate set Alexander on the bed and then got in herself.

"What's wrong bud?" Rick asked running his hand through Alexander's hair. "I don't feel good, daddy, momma said I could sleep with you." Rick felt his head like Kate did out of fatherly instincts. Kate helped Alexander get settled and them she did too, Alexander snuggling up to her. If her motherly instincts were correct, she and Rick would be in for a long night.

Alexander got up and got sick 2 times and in between he couldn't sleep because of his stomach. Kate gave and gave him children's tyonal to help him sleep at least. She wasn't a big fan of giving Alexander medicine but he needed it. It was going on 9am and Rick and Kate were sitting at the counter, Alexander passed out on the couch. "Rick what do we do, we have your court hearing today." Kate sighed and ran her hands through her hair.

"We can rescedual Kate, no big deal."

"Yes big deal Rick!" Kate stood up, "last time we did we waited 6months! We can't wait anymore, it's already been four years Rick, the longer we wait, the less likely we will be granted with what we want. Don't you want to finally adopt Alexander? So we don't have to worry about Josh anymore?" Kate had tears rimming her eyes and carefully wrapped his arms around her.

"Of course I want to Kate, ever since that hearing four years ago, but Alexander is sick, he needs us." Rick dropped a kiss to Kate's head and she went to respond, but a raspy voice called her.

"Momma," Kate followed the voice to the living room and sat in the edge of the couch.

"What baby?"

"Can you cuddle with me while daddy makes his homemade soup? I feel hungry?" Kate smiled and kissed his head, "of course sweetheart."

Rick was standing behind Kate and he chuckled too, "sure squirt, coming right up." Rick dropped a kiss to both Alexander and Kate's head before he helped Kate and Alex get comfy on the sofa.

Rick kissed Kate on the lips this time and Alex squirmed, "daddy, that's gross." Rick ruffled his hair and kissed his head. "Mommy, why do you and daddy kiss?" He asked after Rick descended into the kitchen.

"Same reason why I give you kisses," Kate started, "to show we love each other." Alex reached up and kissed Kate's cheek.

"I love you momma,"

"I love you too buddy."
