Lost?

I woke up with all the noises, my family was getting ready for their flight. I had to drop them to the airport.

We arrived at the airport and my brothers helped my parents with their luggage and gave me a big hug, Samy was a little bit nervous since he didn't like planes. I take his hands, I didn't want to laugh nor tease him but his facial expression was priceless, and I also wanted him to relax.

"Don't act like a kid, you're older than me"
He gave me the Girl if you don't shut the fuck up look I'll kill you. Look... I laughed so hard!

My parents came to say goodbye to Simon and I then my mom started sobbing. And here we go again! I said to myself.
"Gosh mom! It's only for two weeks we're not going to die" I wish I would've never said that back then. If only I knew!
" It's not my fault honey it's just that Simon is so young and it's the first time I'm leaving him behind" she said between sobs.
My dad come and take her in his arm.
"Look mom I'll FaceTime you everyday and you'll be able to se him after two weeks... don't cry."
"Ok baby take care it's time for us to go, I'll calm your mother down." My dad said while he took her away.

"Sean, Samy take care! I'll see you in two weeks! And Samy-" I didn't have the time to say anything else it was the last call for check in.

I let them go and I went to the parking lot to get my car. I looked at Simon I sighed while adjusting his sit. "Well it's only the two of us for a few days buddy" he smiled to me and I swear it was the most beautiful smile I've ever seen. I'm in love with this bubble of joy.

I went home, I cooked, play with Simon, give him a bath and then he took a nap. I looked at my phone it's been 3 hours, 5 more and I'll hear their voices. I wish it was true.

I fell asleep right beside Simon, I didn't even realize it. I was woken up by the bell ring but it was far, like it was in my dream. But when I really Snap out my sleep I hurry and went to the door. I usually looked into the monitor before I answered the door but this time I didn't my guts just told me it was urgent. I opened the door and there was a man in front of me I didn't have time to analyze him, I just know that he was really tall 6'3 maybe.

"Hello" my voice was shaky and sleepy.
"Hum.. Hi is this Mrs Laurent?" his voice was very deep.
"Yes may I help you?"

"Oh sorry this is my partner Lucy Cole, and I am inspector Liam Black from the police department" I didn't realize that there was another person behind him.

I was confused. "Oh! How can I help you? Did something happened? did I do something wrong?" The questions flew one by one.
"I'm sorry to disturb you but we have a few questions about the event that took place this morning."

"What event?"

"Can we come inside and talk miss?" The woman behind him finally spoke.
"Oh sorry, I was being rude come in" I let them in and close the door behind me, my heart was racing, my hands were sweating...

"You didn't see the news in the past 2 hours?"
"Huh? No I... I was busy with my brother what's going on?" They looked at each other like they were in front of a dilemma.
"Excuse me but can you please tell me what's going on and proceed with your questions."
He talks before the woman could "two hours ago the flight your family were in had to land urgently" he took a deep breath "apparently there were people with guns in the plane, they  killed everyone except for your family... it was a trap, apparently your father wanted to protect your family and he tried to fight but we find his body miles away from the plane with a bullet in the chest" "I'm sorry for your loss"

My loss? What? What? How? No no no! It's a joke?
I laughed nervously. "so you're telling me my dad is D-dead and my mom and brothers have been kidnapped?"

After few seconds of silence I spoke again.
"It's a joke right? Is it one of Samy's prank? Are you one of his friends?" I couldn't believe it, no I cannot believe it. Guys it's not funny. Samy tell me it's one of your childish pranks. By the looks they gave me I knew they weren't joking.

My legs couldn't bear it I fell on my knees. Why? How? When? What? What I'm going to do? All these questions popped up on my mind.
I started to cry and shred all the tears I had. My family! While crying I could hear some footsteps and someone handed me a tissue, I looked up and it was the officer. I saw how he looked at me with pity and I hated it, he didn't know what to tell me. I looked desperately in his eyes wishing that he'll tell me it's not true.

Then something hit me and I shouted
"Simon! what I'm going to do" I run to his room forgetting there were people in the living room, he was there playing with a teddybear in his crib like an angel and he gave me a bright smile. I took him in my arms and said "it's really just you and I buddy"

I went downstairs with him in my arms, Liam and Lucy looked at me in surprise with the baby but they kept quiet.
They started with a lot of questions because apparently there were two people in the plane with fake ID. That means they really were after my family. With a fake ID they still can't identify them.

All they know is that the plane was perfectly fine but something inside exploded and they had to land, when the captain called for help he said there were gunshots then nothing could be heard after that.

"Do you have anyone in mind who would want the death of your parents? Do they have a lot of enemies?" I didn't want to think that my family had enemies and besides everyone loved them.
"No I guess" I answered like I was trying to convince myself. And they question continue like this for a while.

"Listen it's been hours and we don't have anything yet. So answer to my question correctly" Officer Lucy spits angrily.
Bitch if you don't shut up...

I WAS BOILING and I couldn't take it anymore  "No! You listen I just lost my family, I have to take care of my little brother and myself! So I'm done answering your stupid questions! I'm not there to do your Fucking Job so You can show yourself out" I was furious and I felt tears running down my cheeks. How dare she?

Liam watched me like I was a bomb ready to explode. We stood there in silence for at least 5 seconds and then he broke the silence.
"I'm sorry for my partner behavior, I know it's difficult for you and, she shouldn't go this far" he said in a gentle voice.

I sat down and he kneels down in front of me and Simon.
"What are you going to do? Do you have any family members who could help?" He asked me.
"I trust aunt Nina ( who's my mother's bestfriend), we don't have a lot of close relatives besides my grandmothers but one is in France." I continue "It's ok... I will take care of Simon and myself until everything settle down"

He looked at me with pity! Oh gosh I hated this look!
"You're only 19 right? And you're still a student you don't think it's better if..." I cut.
"If what?" I saw the look he gave me and I understood! I was feeling the urge to punch him like how could he think of that! " So you don't think that the rest of my family is alive? You think they're dead? I know this look! It means you'll drop the case if you don't have anything. And you think I wouldn't able to take care of Simon if the worst happened..."

"I will find a job and take care of us! Mind your business and do your job!"
