Rewritten is now published! It's better for me as a writer to create something I love then drag on with something I don't.
The Rewritten will
-have similar plot
-same characters
-have smoother transition
-overall better, just sayingIt would mean a lot if you would check it out
Love,
AllieI don't know what made me get up at 5:30 in the morning. I surely don't know what possessed me to get my bike and ride. But what I know now is that I'm lost. I have lived in this town all my life and I cannot believe that I'm lost. I can't turn around now, the cars and people moving past will question my intelligence if I just turn around.
A song playing in my ears drowned surrounding noise. There was a fork in the road both streets looking very similar. Pulling out an ear bud, I heard the cold air rush in my ear.
What the hell.
I plugged in my ear buds and picked a side. I wasn't worried. I woke up early in the morning wanting to explore, just wanting to get away from everyone I know. I did take precautions, bringing a small cross body bag to hold my phone and money. I pushed the pedals hard with my worn down shoes, riding on the cracks and bumps on the ground.
Turning left, I came to a familiar busy street. Sighing, I slowed my bike down, taking my time.
There goes my adventure. There is no escaping this town.
Pulling into the town's dollar store (the only store open at six in the morning), I dropped my bike next to the entrance, pulling my ear buds out of my ears, and walking in. The automatic doors dinged and the cheery music welcomed me. Clerks turned their heads towards me, confused on why someone would come into the store so early. Giving a small smile, I walked toward the snack aisle grabbing my usual: chocolate and hot fries.
My footsteps echoed and squeaked on the freshly clean floors as I walked towards the checkout line. I was empty and a woman put on her name tag labeled Polly and walked to her register, giving me a death glare.
I smiled at Polly and her glare remained as she checked out my items.
"Is that all miss?" She said in monotonous voice.
I nodded and reached for my money in my bag.
"2.21."
I handed her the money and said, "Have a nice day." Still no emotion from Polly I dropped my smile and walked out stuffing the small bag into my bag.
Looking down I walked into someone.
"Oh sorry." I looked up at the person I bumped into. He looked like he was in college, dressed in gray sweatpants and a t shirt.
"Whoa hey there." The young man smiled at me. He had blonde hair with a gray beanie covering his head. He smiled warmly and stuck his hand out. "I'm Ant."
I shook his hand, confused by both his name and his boldness. "Ant?"
"Anthony but everyone calls me Ant." He chuckled and tucked his hands into his pockets.
"Ahh, I'm Jayne but everyone calls me Jay." No one calls me Jay but Devin, I just wanted to seem cooler than I was.
"Well Jay what are you doing this early in the morning?"
"Just riding my bike." I pointed to my bike thrown on the wood chips by the dollar store. "You?"
"Just riding my skateboard." Ant pointed to his skateboard thrown beside my bike. "Wanna ride together?" He wiggled his eyebrows making me chuckle.
