Ch. 5 The Truth

While on the way to Hotland, David tries to make conversation with Frisk, he said

"Hey, Frisk. I've been meaning to ask you something. What did you and Sans do over at Grillby's? I would've ran over there, but I got sidetracked."

David had to lie about Xaenhort, he didn't want Frisk to worry, she replied

"Oh, we just ate food and talked about how life is for the both of us. Sans even told me a few puns that I'm going to use someday. That's pretty much it."

Frisk was also lying, she didn't want David to worry about anything else but the task at hand. David said

"Ah, ok, cool. Did you talk to Undyne at all on your way to her house?"

Frisk nodded and said

"I did actually. She talked about fighting, anime, the extinction of the human race, this one girl named Alphys, and how her and Papyrus met. It was funny, apparently Papyrus kept challenging Undyne to a fight in front of her house all day and night! Papyrus stopped once Undyne finally accepted his request and, of course, Papyrus lost, so Undyne began to train Papyrus from there!"

The conversation ended there and when it did, David looked around at his surroundings and saw two peculiar houses.

"Hey, Frisk." David said "Who do you think lives in those ghost shaped houses?"

Frisk looked at where David was looking and said

"Oh! That house on the left must be where Napstablook lives! Let's go visit!"

David shrugged and said "Alright."

David and Frisk walked to the house on the left and knocked on the door. Napstablook's head fazes through the door, considering he's a ghost, and he says

"Oh, hey, it's you guys. Did you come to visit?"

Frisk nodded and David said

"Yeah, man. We were just around the neighborhood, thought we could drop by and see how you're doing!"

Napstablook replies "Oh. Thanks, uh, come in, I guess."

Napstablook fazes his head out of the door and allows David and Frisk to enter. The inside of the house isn't what you'd expect like from the outside, but considering how Napstablook is, it would make sense as to why the inside looks old, rickety, and have cobwebs in most of the corners. Even the kitchen and computer that Napstablook used looked ancient. David said

"Uh... nice place you got here."

Napstablook replied "You don't have to try and make me feel better. I know my house looks ugly."

David was about to speak, but found out it would be no use. Frisk went to the fridge and got the attention of Napstablook, he said
"Oh? Do you want something to eat? Here, have this."

Napstablook reached in the fridge for a ghost sandwich and tried to hand it over to Frisk, but it fazed through her hands.

"Sorry about that." Napstablook said.

When things were getting awkward, David said

"Hey, Naps! I noticed you have a neighbor! Mind telling us who they are?"

Napstablook didn't expect David to pop the question, but he got over it and said

"That would be my cousin's house, his name is Mettaton. He's not home at the moment."

David felt curious and asked "Any idea when he'll be back?"

Napstablook shrugged and said

"Probably never. He's living it up in Hotland as we speak, being famous and all that."
