OMNISCIENT.

It had been a total of two months since Mykah left Derek and her attitude towards things began to chance. She was happier and there was less of a fear of Derek showing up after a while. The fear still loomed around her at every given moment yet she didn't let it consume her anymore. She thought she was over it.

Mykah had also gotten closer to her best friend, and it had become very evident to her that she felt the way she felt before, and it wasn't as terrifying as she believed it would've been. Every minute of their free time was spent with each other, in her now homey apartment, and he made her feel safe again; like before Derek.

That day the two did what they always did, just laid in her bed and talked about anything they could think of and when they weren't talking they were admiring each other or who the other was becoming.

The two kids weren't together but they were surely far from single. Zion and Mykah had their counterpart carefully wrapped around their finger and they wouldn't trade the feeling electrifying of bliss they had with each other for anything. They loved one another and it was only a matter of time before they acted on it.

Zion's phone went off as he softly played with Mykah's hair, trying to calmly pull her into some sort of sleep. She had been working herself tirelessly for that past month and he made it his mission to see her needs fit. Mykah had gone back to school online to fit her work schedule for her job as an office receptionist for a small company downtown. It was hard for her to jump back into being independent like she used to be but it made her feel like she was becoming what she used to be.

She enjoyed working for what she had and having control over everything because it was her own, and she would never go back to what life used to be. "Hey, I'm going downstairs to get the food, I'll be right back, babe. okay?"

With a slight hum from Mykah, Zion kissed her forehead, rose from her bed, and grabbed her keys from her bedside before leaving the apartment with a crack in the door considering he had to carry drinks up too. As soon as Zion had left out of eye and earshot of Mykah's door, it opened again.

The air was cold and there was no sound other than heavy feet walking through the kitchen and down the narrow hallway leading to Mykah's room. Mykah herself wasn't too alert, not being in a state to think too well, she didn't hear anything; until her door creaked open and there stood the devil in person.

Before she could register what was going on he was already on top of her small body, smoothering her well enough to where she couldn't scream.

"You thought you could get away from me, bitch?" He said with a smile and small laugh so sinister it brought back the pain and fear she believed she had overcome. When she realized the situation fully she began to struggle and try to get his weight off of her so she could run but he made sure she didn't get the chance to leave.

"You're not going anywhere, baby. It's just you and me, no one is going to take you away from me again." He said as his voice grew it's deepest. Derek then got and grabbed Mykah by her hair before slinging her into her bedside table causing her to let out a weak scream as she tried to gather some air.

Meanwhile, downstairs Zion was talking to the delivery woman asking her about the condiments he chose and if that was the best he could've done, as it was their first time getting food from that restaurant.

While he was doing so Mykah's body laid on the floor while Derek was bent over her body with his hand around her throat. "I'm proud of you, you really did something. At first I thought you were gonna end up homeless and this would be easy but you had to make it hard for the both of us. Didn't I tell you to leave that nigger alone?" He said as he slammed her head onto her floor leaving her in more pain, causing her to think of ways to get out of his grip. The closest way was the fire escape but she knew how deadly that could end up for her, and with Zion being outside she wasn't going to take that risk.

The only other way was the front door, but she couldn't get there without Derek letting her neck go. "Answer me, Mykah, didn't I tell you to stop!" He grew angry with her silence as he lifted her from her place on the ground and slammed her back against the wall, choking her out with his hands grip getting tighter.

She choked out a ragged yes as she immediately gasped for air. Derek began to laugh at her flailing and his grip loosened ever so slightly and in an instant Mykah's hard heel collided with his adam's apple and he dropped her from her elevated position to the floor.

She fell gasping for air and trying to regain herself as she slid her way across the floor before making her way up and she barely made it out of her bedroom. Derek was stunned for a moment but he was warm on her tail as he slid a small pistol from his pants and held it to her head with one hand and yanked her hair back with his other.

Her actions made him furious and he began to kick at her abdomen and he threw her head on the floor before he stomped on her ankles and feet, guaranteeing she wasn't going anywhere, but her screams flooded through her small apartment and out into the hall where Zion was. He heard the shrill and chilling sounds and he knew exactly where they were coming from. He immediately put the food down and ran the rest of the way to the apartment and bursting through the unlocked front door.

When he barged in he was shocked but it didn't take even a second him to remove Derek from Mykah's inert body and begin the assault against him.

The two tall and toned boys fought through the hall and spilled into the living room where Derek's gun had landed. Mykah herself wasn't unconscious but she was very clearly suffering from a few injuries but that didn't stop her from trying to get up. As the two battled it out, Mykah, with tears quietly rolling down her face, had rolled onto her back and barely slid up the smooth wall.

As she tried to make it to her living room her legs gave out at the entrance of her hallways causing her back to fall against a small chair she forgot to put away that morning. She then decided if she wasn't going to make it to the boys she was going to solve the problem for everyone, especially herself.

Zion and Derek's fight had moved closer to her limp body while she was trying to slide herself to the freshly polished gun laying idle on her floor. As she got closer Zion and Derek met the floor right beside the gun.

In the following moment two lives changed and one life ended. From the outside listening in you'd think it was a movie being played too loud, that was way too graphic for anyone. It sounded like something had ended and every thing had begun at the same time.

The gunshot blared through the chaotic air, and then it was quiet. So still and so serene, yet evil.

Derek was gone, and this time he wasn't coming back.
