I bounced my leg, waiting for the bell to ring. I let out a sigh of relief when it finally did. I instantly put my stuff in my backpack and stood up. I put my bag over my shoulder as I left class and started heading towards my locker.
I stopped when I noticed Dave pacing back and forth in front of my locker. I let out a small laugh as he looked down at the crumpled up paper and started silently reading it to himself.
"Hey," I said. I laughed when I noticed him jump. "Geez," I giggled. "What's got you all jumpy?"
"Nothing," he stuttered.
"What's that?" I asked, pointing at the paper in his hand.
"What's what? This?" He continued to stutter. "It's nothing. Just some. . .notes. How. . . How was class?" I raised my eyebrows as he quickly put his hands and the note behind his back.
"Come on, Dave." I laughed as I reached around him and took the paper out of his hands. "You were staring at it pretty intently for it to be nothing. . ." I slowly stopped talking when I read the first line.
"Dear Y/N?" I looked up at him, tilting my head slightly. "Dave? What is this?"
Dave was biting his bottom lip as he reached up and scratched the back of his neck. "It's a umm. . . It's a letter." He said slowly.
"A letter?" I asked, titling my head slightly. "Why would you write me a letter?" I looked back down at the letter, but gasped when Dave pulled it out of my hands.
"Dave," I started but he cut me off.
"It's nothing, Y/N. Okay? Just. . . Just forget it." He shoved the letter into his back pocket and looked up at me. I studied his face before shrugging.
"Fine," I said under my breath. I turned to my locker and quietly grabbed my books, shoving them in my backpack. When I had everything I needed for homework, I shut my locker and walked past Dave.
I heard him hesitate before following me down the hall. "Do you want to come over and study for our chemistry midterm?" He asked as he caught up to me.
"I can't," I said, looking straight ahead. "I have to help my mom with something tonight." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him send me a look.
"Y/N," he sighed. Before he could continue, I quickened my pace and headed towards my car.

I was sitting at my desk doing homework when I suddenly heard something that sounded like a pebble hitting the window. Confused, I slowly closed my book.
"What the. . ." I mumbled when I heard it again. I stood up and walked to my window. I slowly opened it and stuck my head out.
"Dave?" I whisper/yelled when I saw him standing below my window. "What the hell are you doing here?"
I watched as he opened and closed his mouth, not able to form words. "I just. . . At school. . . I need to. . ."
"Dave," I sighed. "Just spit it out."
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Can you come down here?" He asked as he opened his eyes. "Please?" He added. I hesitated before nodding.
I leaned back into my room and closed the window. I let out a breath I didn't notice I was holding as I put a cardigan over my tank top and slipped on my shoes. I left my room and started heading outside. Once I got onto the porch, I walked down the steps and headed towards the side of the house.
"Dave?" I whispered as I rounded the corner and didn't see him. I bit my bottom lip when he stepped out and around a tree that had been blocking him from view.
