A/N ~ I'm so sorry that this update took so long to finish I've had a lot of stuff on. Thanks for sticking with it ^-^

You only wanted to protect me,
Tell me what you know.
I'm scared, alone I need a friend,
So please, please don't go.

Virgil shuffled in his seat, pulling his sleeves down over his hands and adjusting himself so that he could look at the others. Might as well ask questions whilst he had the chance, especially considering how in the dark he still was.

"Did.. did you guys give me the bracelet?" He murmered?

"Sorry to break it to you, kid, but we did not do that" Remy let out a huff of breath and lent over the back of the sofa which Roman was sat on, resting his chin on the cushion.

Roman nodded, leaning back a bit as he looked over at Virgil. "Yeah, like, none of know who gave us these items in the first place."

"Da... damn...." Virgil whispered "and I thought it was you guys-"

"Yeah" Emile interrupted, arms folded as he leant backwards against a nearby wall "But we found out that most of the relievers usually suffer from unfortunate things. Like abuse, bullying, mental illness and so much more." His voice was solemn, almost disturbing to Virgil considering the previously cheery and optimistic way in which he spoke.

Emile shook his head and looked back up, putting a smile onto his face as he directed his once more shining eyes towards Virgil "If you want to just jot it down. I think it may be useful later on."

So we're all someone with a shitty life.

Virgil fumbled about a bit as he picked up the notepad and pen, mumbling a quick "Oh, ok!" As he began to scribble down some words onto the page, ink imprinting itself onto the paper.

"Um.. what is your power?" He asked, looking up as he finished noting down what he had deemed important.

"I can detect auras with my sunglasses. That's how I know you own the item" Remy grinned slightly, gesturing towards Virgil with a peace sign "symbol is the letter 'R'."

Emile smiled "Symbol is a star. I can talk to others telepathically with this tie" he lifted it up, directing Virgil's attention towards the pink material. He smiled down at it before glancing over at Roman as he began speaking.

"My hair clip can help me generate fire!" He folded his arms with a proud, smug smirk on his face. "Pretty cool right?" He opened his eyes once more, frowning towards Virgil. What more did he want to know? Thinking back, he sighed. Oh yeah. Waving a quick hand in dismissal "Symbols a crown."

"Well this bracelet creates some sort of shield for me, I guess" Virgil mumbled quietly, lifting up the item in question and spinning it around his wrist. "Oh, it also emits electricity so..." he trailed off, leaving them in an awkward silence. Snapping out of his trance, Virgil lowered his arm and wrote a couple of things down, not looking up as he asked, "are there any side effects to using your power?"

Remy groaned, adjusting his sunglasses a bit "Ugh, I hate to admit it, but wearing this too long kinda worsens my eyesight! I can see auras a lot better then before but.." his speaking faded and muttered to himself "I think I'm about to go blind."

Shrugging, Roman waved his hands about, Virgil jumping as two balls of fire originated themselves around the skin. "Well, my skin is a lot darker nowadays. Probably because of the heat."

"Maybe you don't know this' Virgil" Emile said softly, voice still sharp as it had been earlier. Completely avoiding the question which had been asked, Emile turned and looked directly at Virgil. "We used to have comrades, too. That is, until most of them died because of these items, in the worst possible way. I guess there will be a price to pay, sooner or later, and the moment we use it there will he no going back..."

"Oh.." Virgil felt himself begin to shake, the words far from the comfort which he so desperately needed at that moment. "Oh, really?"

Emile sighed and sat down next to Virgil on the sofa, resting a hand on the others shoulder. A faint smile appeared on his face and he squeezed Virgil's shoulder comfortingly. No point in scaring him away right from the start now was there?

"But don't worry, ok?" He tilted his head and beamed. Remy had always wondered why he didn't just use his abilities on everyone and get then to do as he wanted without taking the long route. He'd always tried to explain how he simply enjoyed talking to people. Minds were intriguing to understand, even more so if you had no control over them. "We will guide and help you with our best!"

"Maybe not much, but we want to help you live as long a life as possible." Roman stepped forward, smiling "and who knows, we can probably find out more about this magic too!"

A slight wave of relief settled over Virgil. Maybe he wouldn't die. Yeah he would be walking about fine line, but he'd been doing that since A had first found the photographs.

Walking forward so that he was in front of Virgil, Remy put his sunglasses back on and offered a hand to the figure, still sat on the sofa.

"So, what do you say kid?"

Virgil frowned. What did he say to what? They'd found out that he had one of the magical items, exactly like them. So what more did they want to know? What-

"Do you want to join in our team?"

For a few moments noone moved. Slowly, Virgil dragged his eyes away from Remy's and towards the hand outstretched in front of him. If he did this, if he actually agreed and joined whatever little team they had formed, then there was no going back. There was no backing out or changing his mind or getting rid of the bracelet. He couldn't leave.

He closed his eyes. Took a breath. Opened them. Lifting up the arm with the bracelet, sliding back a bit as he did, Virgil took Remy's hand.

You only wanted to protect me.
Now I understand.
You're one of us, I never knew.
Now just take my hand.
