I looked at the huge cheering crowd standing in front of me. In modern times, such gatherings would be found at concerts or music festivals.
Here the rules were different, and I was a stranger to them. I wasn't in any kind of representation.
On the contrary, I was standing on a platform, in a play in which I had the first role. I had tried several times for minor roles in small school plays back in high school and I had never gotten any.
Thinking about it now makes me smile. How silly was it of me to get worked up on such trivial little stuff.Taking a look at the razor sharp-edged piece of steel that was in my costar's hand, I thought about the amount of time that it took to grind it and how quickly it would take him to make two pieces of me.
I hoped rather than believed that it would be efficient enough to spare me the discomfort of suffering.
I looked at the sky, hoping that this day would be sunny, as if it would've made any difference to what was about to happen.
I finally gathered my thoughts, leaned in, put my head above the wooden block and prepared myself to take my final bow from this world.
