"There she is ! The one every courtier talks about ! Miss Hastings isn't it ?", said someone behind me.

I turned around to discover the face of a very excited young woman. She didn't look a day over 20 years old and had a huge smile from ear to ear.
She was accompanied by two other young women standing right behind her.

Crap, I didn't have time for this, I wanted to speak to Sir Thomas.

"Erm... Yes I am... I didn't know that I was well known at court. Haha...", I said nervously.
"Oh do not worry my dear ! I did not mean anything by that ! Only that your arrival at court is a very talked about event.", she said trying to reassure me.
"Yes, I fear that I my encounter with His Majesty hasn't been... I beg your pardon but... Who do I have the pleasure to talk to ?"I asked

"Oh forgive me ! Where have my manners gone ? Must be tonight's effervescence, that completely made me forget about standard etiquette. My name is Lady Jane Parker soon to be Rocheford, and one of her Majesty's ladies", she answered.

O. M. Bloody G.
Another historical figure ! Jane Parker ! She plays such a huuuuuuge role into this whole ordeal ! Married to Anne's brother, betraying her to the king and then ... oh boy !
Poor girl...
I felt like I was watching a TV Show for the first time but I already knew the ending.

'Ah man what I wouldn't give to be on my living room couch right now... binge-watching F.r.i.e.n.d.s with Caila and laughing at Chandler's jokes for the 100th time...'

'Focus Emma !'
Right. Now wasn't the time to be distracted. I had to stick to my plan (the one I had secretly made up in my mind... well a few parts at least)

"Well delighted to make your acquaintance Lady Parker." I replied trying to sound friendly.
"Not at all the pleasure is all mine. What an honor to meet the woman who challenged the King !" she said laughing

"Oh no ! I did no such thing, I merely explained what had happened to me. That is all",
I tried to set the record straight.
No gossip must be going around about me, I have to be invisible here.

"Oh

"Oh... that's not what I heard... then again you know how things run around here. Someone tells someone else something and it turns out that the last person hearing about the story gets the wrong one ! Haha", she replied

"Yes, that's how rumours run about, but let me reassure you that my encounter with his Majesty wasn't anything grand or worth remembering. He was very kind to me as any sovereign would be."

"Yes that is true... but I have to disagree with you on that last statement. No one in that Throne room has had the same impression.", she said

'Throne room ?'
There. It hit me like a ton of bricks. Lady Jane was not the innocent woman that she tried to be. She was looking for information, gossip, anything that could quench her thirst for attention.

'OMG what a conniving B....No Em, don't go there. That's what she wants, for you to snap and lose it'

I tried to remain calm and contain myself. I can also play that little game.
"Well I was in that very council room and didn't see you there. So I'm afraid you'll have to believe what I say. Furthermore I don't believe that his Majesty would appreciate you trying to get information on what happened in his private council meetings", I said, trying to stop this conversation from going any further.

"Oh my dear, I didn't mean to offend you ! Forgive me, I really hoped that by coming to introduce myself to you, we could become friends !", she said with a fake smile,

What a manipulative person. In psychology she would be referred as a perverted narcissistic.
I had dealt with one of them before.
All through high school, girls that only wanted my friendship when they needed me. And when they were done, the would go back to being passive agressive.

I decided to be as fake as her and play the same game.

"I hope so too ! Life at court seems very exciting. I only hope that my incident at the Tower won't affect my future interactions with anyone..."

"Oh I can honestly tell you that it has not. My friends and I think that it makes you rather interesting ! But when you come to think of it, it is really a good thing. And we now know of his Majesty's inclination for you !", she shouted

"Inclination ?", I asked
What the hell did she mean by that ?!

Then suddenly, the room went quiet. When I turned around, I saw a tall man standing in front of the entrance, about to announce something :

"His Majesty, The King !"

Oh. Shit.
