Chapter 9 - Heartbeat
I woke up not on the couch, or in Toby's bed, I woke up in the woods. I had a pounding headache and I couldnt see. All I could feel was the leaves under my body. I held my eyes shut. I didnt know if I was in the human realm or back home. I pushed myself up. I opened my eyes to see a person a few feet away. I held my breath and tried to walk away. I bumped into something.
"Oh, sorry I didnt see you there," someone said behind me.
"No, I'm sorry, I wasnt paying attention," I said turning around. I looked up at a woman. She was older than me her white hair was styled in a beautiful braid around her side. She had crystal blue eyes and she didnt have pupils, which was normal for pastas so I thought nothing of it. Her skin was saggy but it wasnt to noticable.
I walked off and tried to stear clear of anybody. I was in Slenders dimension, I knew only because of the giant distorted mansion that stood in front of me. I seen the curtains ruffle from the inside. I stood in the woods watching the house. I looked up to Slenderman's office window. He didnt have a curtain I could see his figure pace back and forth. A few times I seen him face the window. I walked up to the porch. I knocked on the door. No one answered. I knocked a little louder. No one answered again. I held my hand above the door ready to knock again. 'Who would answer during the day,' I asked myself. I tried the handle, it wouldnt move. I was locked out. I knocked again.
"W-w-wheres y-y-y/n?" I could hear Toby scream from inside. I knocked on the door again. "I c-cant f-find her a-anyw-w-wh-where!" He screamed. I banged on the door with my fists. Still no one answered.
"Please! Let me in!" I screamed still banging on the door. Someone came and knocked back. "Let me in!" I screamed banging harder. "Please!" I cried. Tears began to well in my eyes. I banged harder and harder but all I got back where knocks. The tears began to fall down my cheeks. "Please," I slid down the door. No one was dumb enough to open the door. I cried. I let the tears drop down my cheeks. I pulled my knees to my chest.
I looked up. Something stood before the porch. It was a few feet from the steps and it didnt move. It seemed to not have a face, but it wasnt Slenderman. The thing was smaller, maybe the size of a child, its face had details missing, such as a mouth, nose, and eyebrows. It stood there watching me. Its eyes seemed to be black sockets. I wasnt sacred to stare at it and it didnt seem to have a problem with me. I sat against the door as the thing looked at its feet well shoes then looked back up at me. I glanced down at my feet. I didnt have shoes. I looked back up at the thing. Its shoes were sitting on the steps, the thing didnt move though. It floated above the ground. Its clothes were tattered and torn. It didnt seem to have legs or arms, even though the sleeves of its shirt fell over something, as well as the pants.
"What are you?" I asked slightly getting up. The thing clocked its head to the side as if it was confused. "Can you talk?" I asked sitting on my knees. It shrugged and nodded. "What's your name?" I asked pulling my hands into my hoodie, it was really cold for some reason. The thing shook their head. "Can you tell me what you are?" I asked something moved behind the thing. I looked over its shoulder. Something shuttered.
"I am Nothing," the thing said. Their sleeve moved closer to me. "I know all about you y/n," the thing said taking a step closer to the porch. "I'm not going to hurt you," Nothing said holding out their hand. I kept looking over its shoulder. "That's my sister, Anxiety. Shes shy," Nothing said looking behind itself.
"Why do you have such odd names?" I asked shaking Nothings hand.
"All of my family has odd names. Mother says we represent mental things. I dont know what that means. Shes Insomnia, and Dad is Addiction," Nothing said. Anxiety came out from behind Nothing.
