"Hey I gotta go!" Alex says suddenly standing up from his chair on the other side of the room.

"Okay I'm gonna stay a little longer, just gonna get this last worksheet done."

"Don't stay here too long okay. I don't wanna hear that you fell asleep in the chair, again."

"It's only four o'clock."

"With the way you're sleeping you could fall asleep at noon and wake up twenty four hours later."

I  laugh at him while he raises his eyebrows at me. I had woken up about half an hour later from when I first fell asleep. But last week I fell asleep with my head on Haley's bed because I told Alex that I was just going to finish one last worksheet and I lost track of time. But one of the nurses ratted me out to Alex and he's been keeping an eye on me since.

"Hey that was a one time thing okay..." I say laughing and pointing at him. "I'll leave as soon as I finish the homework."

"Even though I know you're lying I will leave anyway because as a boyfriend I trust you." he says with a serious face. "Just don't stay too late."

"Okay I'll see you tomorrow, lunch?" I ask realizing I hadn't really spent time with him.

"Alright, I'll hold you to that." he said pointing at me.

"Pointing is rude." I say with a smile on my face.

"Bye." he says shaking his head and walking out the door.

I put my attention back on my dreadful math homework. I finish my math and move onto the Botany homework I had put off because it was usually Haley who helped me Botany. She was always into science, which I never really got because I don't really like science. But Haley was just...weird like that.

My eyes start to get heavy and I know that I have to go to sleep. I was playing in a tennis meet tomorrow and I was also supposed to go talk to Haley's teachers about homework. No I'm not doing it for her but her dad had asked me to talk to them about what would happen if Haley woke up before her junior year was over.

Just as I'm about to pack up my stuff my phone rings. I groan when I see the caller ID and actually consider not answering. I answer it anyway knowing that it would be  rude to just let her go to voicemail. After all she was Haley's sister.

"Hey Sheila." I say trying to sound cheerful.

"I thought you might still be awake."

"Yup. just here doing homework with your sister."

"Wait is she-"

"No she's not. I'm just in the room right now doing homework."

"Oh." she says sounding disappointed.

I know Sheila cares about Haley. She just doesn't show it as much as she probably should. They've always had their fights, but Haley never stopped caring about her sisters. That's what Haley was good at, whether she was mad at people she never stopped caring. Even when they did...

"What's up Sheila?"

"I just...I just wanted to check in and see how she was doing."

"She's fine. The same really, nothing new has happened." I say but then remember what happened just the other day. "Well actually someone came in to see her and apparently they were holding her hand and she squeezed it."

"Really?" she asked her attention obviously intrigued by the news. "Has anything else happened since then?"

"No, nothing yet. But don't worry, if something else happens you'll be the first one I call."
