[ 26 ]The smell of warm coffee fills my nose as sit in the cafe. I play with my fingers as silence swarms around the cafe making me feel small in my seat. "How are you?" I mumble training my eyes on the cracks of the table wanting the floor to split an swallow me whole. I wanted to say something anything to apologize for what had happened but I couldn't find the words so I continue to trace the cracks in the table with eyes. Words swarm around my head like a tornado waiting to be released yet I stay silent.
"I'm good actually... I've been working a lot and I was finally able to move out of my parents place." He said seeming just as uncomfortable as me. What happened to us we use to able to sit around each other for hours without feeling uncomfortable or awkward. I feel terrible for ruining what we had.
"Really that's amazing! How's Ji woo?" "She's doing great, she asks about you all the time." He says before leaning on to the table causing my coffee to shake slightly. The dark liquid slides around the rim of the cup before settling again. "She says you haven't been coming to school, is that true?" His voice holds concern and disapproval. I shrug before taking a sip of my drink. It warms my insides claiming my brain for mere seconds.
"I have no idea what you're talking about?" "Echo! You shouldn't be skipping school especially during your senior year this is the year that counts." "I still get my work done I just don't go to class anymore!" I pull the sleeves of my shirt over my hands before sitting back in my chair. I tap my foot feeling quite anxious, this was a bad idea I think to myself as I stare at Dean.
"Jungkook still waits for you so you can walk home together..." My throat becomes dry and I feel tears well up in my eyes at the mention of Jungkook. I miss him and the boys so much I think about them everyday.
A single tear slides down my cheek "so..." "When is the last time you've talked to any of them Echo?" I ignore his question continuing to play with my straw. "You can't hide forever Echo, one day you're gonna have to come out of your little world and be an adult one day! You'll have to face you're problems eventually, just like the rest of us." He sighs before standing up from his chair it squeaks slightly as he pushes it under the table. "Where are you going?" "Back to work, it was nice seeing you Echo..." He turns to walk away before I stop him. "Wait!" I stutter slightly trying to gather my thoughts to form a coherent sentence. "I- im sorry Dean..." My demeanor falters slightly before cracking completely my lips quivers slightly before I look up at him. " I truly am sorry Dean, I- I never meant to hurt you. You mean a lot to me and I truly made a mistake."
"I accept your apology Echo but I need more time." I nod in understanding I shift my stance staring at the ground for a moment. He looks at me for a moment before turning and leaving the cafe and this time I don't stop him.
I gather my things leaving the cafe a few moments later heading towards the boys house taking Deans advice. I can't hide forever I'm ready to have my friends back. All of them.
