Once upon a time there was a young boy around the age of 17 drifting through life. Everyone thought he was the villain of the story, but he was actually kind at heart. Draco Malfoy was damaged from the war and refused to let the world know. The physical and mental scars were worse than anyone knew. Draco's father was now in jail and his mother was locked away at home. She refused to leave the house because the Malfoy name was now a shame to wear. Draco refused to let his tarnished name get in the way of his life.

Draco managed to keep his grades high and made sure not to get into any trouble this way there was no reason to expel him. The other kids at school were brutal and made it a point to hurt Draco whenever they felt because there was no way he could do anything about it. He hated how his life was, but would he ever complain?

"Hey, Malfoy, do you think you could hand me that book?" Potter asked interrupting his thoughts.

"Sure Potter," he reached in front of him to pull the book out from the shelf.

"Thanks. What are you doing standing in the middle of the isle?" he asked with a concerned look on his face.

"Because potter I was thinking an got lost in thought. Is that enough of an excuse for you?" Draco snapped.

"Malfoy I'm only making sure you're okay because I know people have been bullying you since we came back. I've tried to get as many as possible to back off."

"Why would you do such a thing? Do you think you're going to gain something from that?" Draco did not trust Harry at all.

Draco saw Harry open his mouth to respond, but instead of letting him finish he stormed off. He didn't know what potter was playing at, but he refused to fall into the raven haired boy's trap. Why would he help Draco though? Maybe he wanted to bring Draco into a false sense of friendship just to hurt him in front of everyone at school.

He continued down the isle back to the table that he and his friends were sitting at.

"Pansy, Blaise, I just had the most peculiar conversation with Potter,"  He said as he took his seat.

"What about Drakie?" Pansy asked using that terrible nick name she insisted on.

"Well he said that he's been stopping the bullies from trying to hurt me."

"What do think he's playing at?" Blaise asked now intrigued.

"Im not sure," he picked up his book so it would look like he was reading.

He pretended to read so that his friends knew the conversation was over and he wouldn't speak any further on the matter. Potter, why would he do such a thing? Helping Draco? There must something behind his actions.

Draco was sitting in the back of charms class like usual. Today they where supposed to be paired up to complete a project.

"Listen up because I'm only going to say this one time. I will pair you guys in groups of two and you will pick a charm and write a foot and a half report about it. You will also be responsible for knowing how to perform the charm. No two groups are allowed to present on the same charm. If this does by chance happen the group with the better presentation will receive the grade and the other group will have to start over and receive tardy points for the work. I will state the pairings now: Neville Longbottom and Hermione Granger, Blaise Zambini and Seamus Finnigan, Draco Malfoy and Harry potter..."

Draco stopped listening after he heard he was paired with Potter. He wanted to avoid Potter and now he is partnered with him. Why did the fates hate him so much.
