The transfer

Back in Texas, I had a normal life with normal friends. But all good things come to an end. Somethings that you really want to last forever. But life has its own path, and my path is putting me in the direction of New York City. Fun right? Yeah I know, but it's not fun when you have no one to share the journey with.

I walk out the airport and see my loving aunt waving at me. She's like a second mother to me, she would always call me, but until recently she unexpectedly stopped. After the tragedy happened, I was not old enough to live by myself. So had to go live with my aunt and my cousin. I walk over to my aunt with a warming smile on my face and greet her with open arms. She swings herself into me and tightly hugs me.

My aunt has always been a very happy person, but after the tragedy she has been more  emotional than usual, so it must be nice to see me. She backs away from the hug, and smiles at me with her hands on the side of my arms.

"How have you been? Well, besides the incident?", she says rubbing my arms.

"I've been a little down, but I have my good days", I say awkwardly. "How are you?".

"Ohh ya know, I'm holding up ok. I'm a little tired and all but otherwise I'm good", she's says unconvincingly.

"I think we should go, your cousin Jayden is waiting at home", and with that we make our way out onto the street waving for a cab. Aunt Sherisha tells me it's a 1hr car ride due to the traffic, so I just enjoy the scenery as the driver honks and turns corners.

New York is definitely something I'm going to have to get used to, it's completely different from Texas.  There's a bunch of apartment building crammed together, and the people act different too.

We eventually get to my aunt's house, she tells me to go inside and she'll get my bags. I eventually get inside after trying to help her with my bags. Aunt Sherisha's house is actually kinda cozy, I never went to her house before because we lived too far.

I see Jayden sitting down in the kitchen, on his phone. My intent was to scare him, but he saw me before I could get close to him.

"Little cousin, how are you? Mom said you were coming to live with us." Jayden says while getting up and hugging sweetly me.

"Well, I'm  fine I guess." I say while I shrug my shoulders. To be honest, I've been terrible since the incident happened, but I don't want to scare them.

I didn't realize that aunt Sherisha already put the bags in the room I'm staying in. I hope it wasn't to much for her, I asked to help, but she shooed me away.

"Oh, honey, I have something to talk to you about." Aunt Sherisha says to me.

"What is it, aunt Sherisha?" I say to her while I back away from Jayden.

"Um I'll tell you later. Jayden, didn't you want to go to the park to play basketball?" She says while she turns to my older cousin.

"Yeah?" Jayden says, suspicious of what she is going to say.

"Well you can go, but you have to bring Paris with you." Aunt Sherisha says in triumph.

Jayden looks at me, then says "Sure, why not."

I didn't really wanna go, but Jayden looked terrified of his mother, and I didn't want to see what would happen if I said no. So I just walked out the door with my older cousin. We talked whenever I was on the phone with aunt Sherisha and he was home.

"So Paris, you know how to play basketball." He asks me.

" I know the rules, but I can't play that well." I shrug my shoulders saying shyly.

"Well then you can be the referee." He says while smiling like he was a genius.

I giggle at his stupid comment, then say, "No, I'll just sit on the bench and watch." He just shrugs his shoulders and continues walking.

When we get to the park we walk over to the basketball court, and I take a seat on the bench while Jayden goes over to his friends that are already play. I look over to Jayden and his friends and study them not to suspiciously.  Jayden turns to me and points, I guess he's telling them about me.

One of his friends walks over to me looking oddly confident, I see Jayden roll his eyes and turn back to the others. "So uh I heard you moved in with Jayden?", he says as he sits down on the bench beside me, whipping his forehead. "Yeah what about it?", I say curiously as I look up to at him.

I get lost I'm his light ocean blue eyes as he stares at me as intently as I am at him. I can't lie is his pretty cute. I look back down at my phone embarrassed thinking that he probably thought I was checking him out. I mean I was, but that's besides the point. He snaps himself back as if he was as into it as I.

"Well, me and the rest of my friends are having a party at my house, and I was wondering if you wanted to come." He says,  hoping I would say yes.

"Um, I'll see if I can go." I say, not wanting to go.

The of sadness that was in his eyes made me change my mind completely.

"But, I'm sure I can go." I say, giving him a huge smile.

"Great! By the way my name is Kyle." He says, his emotion changed from sad to happy in an instant. He walked back to his friends.

When they stopped playing me and Jayden walked back home, in silence.

"So, did-" I try to say before he cuts me off.

"Listen, I don't want you involved with Kyle, okay." He says with an annoyed expression on his face.

"Why, isn't he your friend?" I say confused of the situation.

"Not really, but he's a player, and I don't want you to get your heart broken." He says with an even more annoyed expression then before.

"O-okay." I say, even though I don't mean it.

We eventually get home and aunt Sherisha is on the computer.

"Your home! Just in time." She says grinning like crazy.

"What? Do I need to know something?" I ask.

"Yes, theres actually something very important I need to tell you. Your going back to school starting Monday."
