Katie had a pure look of utter uncertainty. She looked at her father puzzled. "Oh," He sighed sadly, "I'm so sorry Katie," Tears pricked his eyes, as he gazed at his daughter. "Time," Katie began to question, "What did you need to tell me, this is all so confusing," Time slowly walked up to Katie "I'm sorry, but do you really think that it's the best Idea at the moment, surely you want to spend time with your family first," Time was desperately making excuses and Katie could see that, a twinge of sympathy, helped to give Time the answer she wanted. "Sure, give me half an - um," Time interrupted, "Half an hour?" Katie nodded "Yes," Time left the room within seconds. Katie ran to her brother and hugged him "Matthew, I'm so sorry, this was meant to be a great Christmas." Matthew smirked and hugged her back, "It's fine, Katie it's not your fault," He seemed to understand more than he let on. Her mother's eyes watered, "Katie, I'm sorry we didn't let you know sooner, please, we really are sorry." Overcome with confusion she asked her mother what she was sorry for, "Oh, Katie, please don't hate us, we just wanted someone to love," Katie beginning to get more confused replied, "Why don't you start from the beginning?" Her mother's smile wavered. "Yes, fine, okay then. Well when me and your fathe- Martin, got married, we were told we couldn't have children," Katie interrupted "But you have me and Matthew." Katie's mother let of a glare as though to say let me finish. "Yes, Matthew was a miracle baby, but you, well. I'm afraid we haven't been entirely honest with you. You see when we were told we couldn't have children, it was all we wanted, like most people, when you find out you can't have it, you want it even more. In one of our more desperate attempts, we, and I am not proud of this, but we tried to summon Xochitlicue, the goddess of life, fertility and death, we were promised a baby within the day, but that child could not interact with children outside the forest, for they will see her for what she really is, rather than what we make of her. We believed that Xochitlicue was going to bless us with a baby, as in a pregnancy, but we were wrong. At 11 pm that night, a cloaked figure passed us a baby, told us to raise it as our own, but also told us on her 12th Christmas she must return home once more, for this is a powerful curse, that cannot be broken, or will mortialize the participants, in this case, the cloaked figure and the baby, who are immortal. Before the cloaked figure left, he passed us a frame, a photo, of the boy that was here not long ago, he told us to watch out for him as he would most likely try to get the baby back from us, not vindictively but only because, only because she was his sister." Katie, not thinking very straight at all blurted out "So, Time was brought up with you?" Her mother's silent tears poured, "No, Katie," Realisation dawned upon her face, "Oh," "Yes, I'm sorry," Her mother's whisperers ceased. Suddenly Aries burst through the door, and look at Katie's mother, "Have you told her?" he asked as she nodded. He looked at Katie and began to speak, "You see, I knew of this, all along, I witnessed it," And from there he told his tale.
Authors Note:
I hoped you enjoyed this chapter, I'm open to criticism, so feel free to say your opinions, I do have a specific storyline for this book, but I can change it if it would be more enjoyable with certain aspects added. In the next chapter, Aries' tale shall be told. Feel free to state oter genres I should write, I usually prefer, horror, mystery or fanatsy, but I'm open to trying something new. And, once again, I write all my own 100% original stories and draw all the artwork seen, including covers and other pieces included in my work. If this changes I will clearly state it next to the piece of art. ~Thanks.
