They finally arrived at the airport, thankfully before the sun has risen. She found a kiask where everything was themed Hawaii, tacky t-shirts, sandals, and sunglasses. She found a large monochrome hat that covered her face.
This should do it. Mavis thought.
Johnny gave the man there a five before sitting in the lobby.
"Flight 297 will now be boarding, please proceed to plane" The lady on the PA announced. They skipped through the crowds and onto the plane. Johnny sat by the window, just incase the sun rises on his side, so he can pull down the curtain on the small window.
"Johnny?" Mavis whispered.
"Yeah Mavis?"
"What would your family think of me?"
Johnny was taken aback, he hadn't thought about his family in so long...ever since he left to travel, they've broken all ties. He doesn't know what to say.
"I...I don't know Mavey..." He sighed. She snuggles up to him, not caring about all the stares they're receiving.
Mavis and Johnny had fallen asleep when the plane landed. The little old lady sitting next to them woke them up. Mavis rubbed her eyes, and looked at the lady.
She reminds me of my Aunt Gagletina... That was the old gremlin lady who ate Johnny's scooter.
"Thank you, ma'am!" Mavis propped herself up. She looked out the window to see a bright light, and grabbed her hat and threw it on. Johnny was still groggy, but he managed to keep his eyes open. Mavis pecked his lips, making Johnny's eyes widen more. Mavis giggled. They got off the plane, and saw many people in bathing suits and little clothing, revealing more skin, and maybe a tattoo. Surprisingly, Mavis didn't feel hot, rather, comfortable. She doesn't get hot or cold. A girl with blonde hair bumped into Mavis, and seemed offended.
"Excuse me! I'd appreciate it if you keep your demon away from me!" she retorted to Johnny. Mavis was confused as she watched Johnny's face turn into a scowl.
"The only demon I see here is you! Come on Mavis, let's ditch this plastic Barbie." Johnny wrapped his arm around her waist and walked off.
"I'm sorry...there's gonna be a lot of haters here, so don't worry, I'll protect you." Johnny spoke in a tone that seemed strong. yet soft. Mavis looked around, wondering what to do and where to go. Johnny knew where to go, when he was here last, he stayed at a great motel, and wanted to let Mavis experience staying at home unlike home.
Mavis was lead to a building, small but cozy. She felt comfortable. Johnny walked up to the desk to take care of things. So Mavis looked around, looking at the painted pictures of a beach house and surf boards, and tracing the lime green trimming with her black fingernails.
"Oohhhh Mavey~" Johnny walked up behind her. She turned around to see him dangling keys near her face. She laughed, and grabbed her luggage, following Johnny into a room. It was homey, and she enjoyed it.
"So...like...you sleep during the day?"
"Yeah," she yawned, "-but I can stay awake if you want..."
"No, no, no, no, no, no...We'll sleep." Johnny wanted to make Mavis happy. She smiled. Johnny made a mistake, though, he only now realised(man...he needs to step up his game...)
There was only one bed.
Johnny turned beet red.
