Chapter 4: The Flower House

---------------

"Where are we going?" Five asked in a seriousvoice, but you could tell he was amused.

"When I was youngerI used to explore the Academy regularly," Vanya said, trying to hide her excitement. "Because there was absolutely no way that us seven had access to all the rooms in the building. I knew there were hidden rooms and hallways everywhere."

Five frowned at the new information. He should have knownthere were hidden rooms inside the Academy. How hadn't he figured that out? Itseems like a lot of things had slipped past his attention when they wereyounger, the more he thought about it. He was too focussed on and obsessed withhis powers. Apart from being on missions or having training sessions, he spent everyminute of spare time on solving equations about his time travelling problems. He didn't have the time or need to 'play' with his siblings. He wanted to workon his powers. He needed to work on his powers.

However, looking back on it now. Five couldn't recall why he wanted to prove he could time travel so badly. It sure as hell wasn't for his father. The old man could be damned for all he cared. Maybe he wanted to prove to himself that he was as good as his siblings, that he wasn't the outcast he deemed himself to be.

It felt so silly to him now. He used to think of himself as the odd one out. Luther was constantly with Allison, Ben and Klaus were and are still best friends, mom was everything to Diego. He hadn't evennoticed Vanya was alone all the time, just like he was. He was so ignorant backthen.

He shifted his gaze to study Vanya better. Her eyes shone with mischief and her face was adorned with a large smile. He had never seen the brunette smile so much in his life.

Then it hit him. This was his chance. His chance to—for once—not fuck up his childhood. He could get along with his siblings, have abest friend. He could act his age—thirteen, not fifty-eight—instead of worryingabout the future.

Well that wasn't true. He did have to worry about the future. To make sure his sister or anyone else didn't cause to end of the world this time. But that wasn't gonna stop him from enjoying his life, because if he didn't, then what was the purpose?

"We're almost there." Vanya's voice broke him out of his mini-existential crisis.

Five looked around to see that they'd gone through a narrow underground tunnel. He had no idea how they got here, but all he could think about was that Vanya still held his hand which made his cheeks flush red. He desperately needed to distract himself before she started asking questions.

"Where is 'there' exactly?"

"You'll see. Okay, close your eyes," she instructed. Five was reluctant at first but he complied when the brunette casted him a stubborn glare.

"Fine, they're closed. Now what?" He yelped when he suddenly felt both of Vanya's hands grasp his wrists. She carefully guided him through the rest of the tunnel. His hearing focussed on the stillness around them. There were no cars, no streets as far as he could tell. It smelled quite sweet come to think of it.

Vanya's hands left his and for a moment, he missed the warmth of them. Then as quick as the feeling came, it disappeared, because she whispered for him to open his eyes. Five's breath got caught in his throat at the sight.

"Wow."

"Klaus?!" Ben yelled, looking for his brother. After searchingthrough all the bedrooms, he concluded that apparently, the dramatic boy hadn't gone to his room as he said he would. Typical. "Klaus! Where are you?!"
