Chapter 7: As The Clock Chimes: part 2

---------------

After some time, the siblings let go and went back to their previous seats.

"I heard you conjured dad. How did you do that?" Vanya asked Klaus.

"Well...funny story," he looked away uncomfortably.

Allison eyed him cautiously. "What happened?"

"So, Luther was upset about dad sending him to the moon and all, right?" Luther looked at his lap, flushed in embarrassment. "I tried to cheer him up a bit, you know. Then I left him alone for a bit and when I came back, he was gone. Disappeared, completely! I found him at some rave in the city. It was filled with furries. Our big brother was going totally bananas over there, it was his first time being drunk."

Diego tried his best to hold his laughter as he pictured Lutherdrunk. Allison, however, didn't, and burst out laughing at the image in her head.

"So what? I'm sure even Vanya hasn't been drunk before!" he pointed his finger at the brunette like a toddler would do. She looked mock-offended at the accusation.

"Oh please! I've had my fair share of being drunk. Klaus," she turned to him, "you remember my first time drunk, right?"

His grin resembled a Cheshire cat's and he nodded his head vigorously. "We were fifteen, if I remember correctly. We'd beenso bored, so we decided to play truth or dare. It's a pity you all weren't there to see it. Well, except Ben of course. It was hilarious! Oh what a bit of alcohol can do to such small people..." He grinned at his brother and sister. The grimaced simultaneously as they remembered the things they did that night.

"Anyway..." Klaus turned back to his original story, "I tried to get Luther out of that place before something bad could happen. He didn't hear me." He looked up at him. "One of the furries knocked me out and then I met a little girl on a bicycle. She was weird. I'm pretty sure she was God. She didn't like me very well—"

"Hold up! You met God?"

"Yeah, this littl—"

"You met God, you died..." Five spoke up, shocked.

"Well yeah, I guess, anyway—"

"Klaus, this isn't something to go over lightly. You died! I let that happen!" Luther panicked.

"It's honestly okay, big guy. Besides, I wasn't dead for a long time, she didn't want me there," he said, referring to the little god-girl. "She said someone was waiting for me and when I went to meet the person, I realised it was our dear deceased papa. We had a...nice talk and he told me he killed himself. The sick bastard wanted us find each other and save the world or something."

Vanya laughed bitterly, catching the attention of her siblings who looked at her questioningly.

"I'm sorry, but after everything he did, all the shit he put us through. He thought that killing himself would bring us back together? He was—is so full of shit! How did he even know the apocalypse was going to happen?"

"I don't know, maybe it was a coincidence?" Allison said.

Five scoffed. "There is no such thing as a 'coincidence'. I'm sure he knew one way or another that the apocalypse was going to happen. We just need to figure out how..."

"Did he know it was me?" Vanya looked concerned. "That I caused the end of the world? Is that why he locked me up in that bunker and hid my powers from everyone, including me?"

"I don't think he knew it was you. He was scared of your powers, that's why he locked you up, sis. But we're not letting that happen again, not when we're here to stop it," Ben said while smiling at his sister.

"Same for you, Klaus." Diego put his hand on his brother's shoulder. "I'm not going to let that asshole lock you up in that mausoleum again. He doesn't know about your new power, but if he somehow does find out, he'll want to give you some special training, I'm sure. We'll protect you, we'll protect each other," he directed the last part at all his siblings, who nodded in return.

Vanya furrowed her eyebrows as something Diego said registered in her mind. "You have a new power? What is it?" she asked curiously.

"Uh, well. I—What is my new power?" He turned to Five, knowing he would have an explanation. The boy rolled his eyes but explained anyway.

"I believe you have the ability to channel the dead by 'lending' them a part of your energy so that they can appear, like you did with Ben." Klaus nodded in apprehension. "It's safe to say some of us actually have more powers than we think we have, but just haven't figured them out yet."

"Oh cool! How do we discover them?" Diego asked excitedly.

"We all do in our own ways, I suppose. I managed to punch Klaus when he wanted to start using again," Ben answered. "We'll find most of them when we don't expect them to. Like when you look for something you need, but you can't find it, and when you don't need it, you do. Does that make sense?" Series of 'yeah' and 'not really' sounded from the others.

"Oh! There's actually something important I need to tell you guys." Diego jumped up from the couch.

"What is it?"

"I heard Pogo, mom and dad talking in his office today. They know something's wrong. I don't know how, but they'll be watching us."

"What are we supposed to do now?" Vanya questioned.

"It's best if we act like nothing's happened. If we're lucky, they'll leave us alone after a while. Either way, watch out with what you do, for all we know, they might be watching from afar," Five told them. They nodded in response; anxious looks spread on their faces.

Vanya yawned and put her head on Five's shoulder while she closed her eyes. "I'm tired." Luther's head turned to the old clock that hung on the wall.

"It's almost 2 am. We should head back to bed. Does anyone have something to get of their chest while we're still at it?" They all shook their heads. "Okay, let's head back to bed, then. If there's something we need to talk about more, we'll do that sometime later."

He stood up, the rest following his example. Vanya's eyes drooped a bit, but she succeeded to stand up on her own two feet just fine.

They all walked towards the door, Allison and Luther were the first to leave, talking in hushed tones and walking side by side with a close proximity. Diego was about toleave too, but before he stepped out of the room, he stopped, causing the remaining four to almost bump into him.

"You know, I remember this room," he smiled wistfully. "We used to play our songs in here when we were little." He turned to Vanya and gave her a large grin.

"Oh yeah, I remember! The Prime-8s, our band." She giggled.

"We should do it again some time when the Commission is dealt with." He stared at his old bass guitar, a twinkle in his eyes.

"Yeah, we could give the others a little concert."

"Somebody else would have to play the drums, though. We don't have our previous drummer anymore," Diego frowned. The brunette nodded her in affirmation, nottoo worried about having to find a replacement right now. She was more focusedon getting to her bed and finally getting to sleep.

"You're right, we'll figure something out."

The five brothers and sister left the music room, not saying a word due to the risk of getting caught. Vanya and Five walked behind the other three, hand in hand. They didn't know when their hands had connected, but they weren't planning on letting go anytime soon.

Once they arrived at their bedrooms, they whispered quiet goodnights before separating and entering their respective room.

The seven slept peacefully, knowing everything was cleared up. There were no secrets anymore, they finally trusted each other.
