"Gilliam, we were going to call you," Bastian said, his voice tight as he stared at the man before him with his eyes narrowed. "But, as usual, you've arrived without being summoned and by announcing your arrival with an idiotic stunt that puts everyone in danger."
Gilliam laughed, raising his brow. "You mean that little fire?" He asked, his eyes sparkling wickedly as he shrugged his shoulders. "Too bad the members weren't within it. After all the witches they've burned, I think they deserve a little heat."
"It's dangerous," Bastian said, rolling his eyes. "Why can't you understand that?"
Gilliam shook his head, ignoring Bastian's question as his eyes moved to me. "And who is this?" He asked, his eyes roaming over me as he inhaled. "I smell magic on her...Recently used magic."
My eyes widened as Bastian's insistence on telling him I belonged to him began to make perfect sense especially when he took a step forward causing a rumble to echo through Bastian's chest.
"My name is Lanie Price," I said as his eyes slid over me like he was deciding where he wanted to touch me first. "I'm Bastian's soulmate."
His eyes snapped to mine. "Lucky bastard." He moved past us, checking out my ass as he stepped into the entryway. "Really lucky."
Bastian growled again and Gilliam put his hands out. "Don't worry, Little brother. I remember the rules. She's claimed you so no touching from me. I can't say I'm not disappointed, but I do follow that rule...That one rule. Where's Dimitri?"
Bastian's face morphed from anger to regret. "Chained."
Gilliam paused as he regarded Bastian, his face becoming serious for a fleeting moment before returning to that wide, amused grin. "Having one of his episodes?"
"The worst kind," Bastian said, shifting on his feet.
Gilliam's gaze moved to me. "I suppose he was more disappointed than me at your declaration."
I nodded as my stomach twisted in guilt. Bastian wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close, kissing my temple to give me comfort.
Gilliam rolled his eyes. "It's his own fault. He should have known you would receive your soulmate first. You always get all the goodies first. Even when we were mortal, mother would coddle you."
My mouth dropped open. They had the same mother? I searched his face, finding similarities in their eye color and the curve of their jaw. Gilliam turned to me with his eyes sparkling. "I suppose you didn't tell her," he said with a sigh. "We are all brothers because we share the same sire, but Bastian and I were brothers long before that. We have the same mother...Not sure about the same father though. Our mother didn't even know that."
