Zak POV
When Aaron waved Avery over at breakfast, I felt my heart begin to race. I couldn't understand what he was trying to do. As she walked over he whispered to me,
"Your girl is coming over." He giggled as she reached the table.
The whole time she spoke, it's like I was lost in her words. Her presence was so comforting, so familiar. As she walked off, we began planning what we would all do for the day. We decided on hiking and the bakery. Later we would stop somewhere for some dinner.
As we walked back from a long days of running around, we noticed a sign in front of The Lucky Badger.
Live music tonight
Free drink with purchase"Let's eat here, plus a free drink I could go for." Aaron motioned for us to go inside.
We all sat in a booth on the edge of the room and ordered our meals. We talked about what our next lockdown would be like and how we were all excited to check the place out. The lights began to dim and I heard the name Avery come from the man on the stage. I heard Aaron almost immediately.
"No way dude." His voice sounding in shock as he nudged me in the side.
I looked up to see Avery dressed in a stunning black dress, her hair falling perfectly down her back. She grabbed the microphone and as the piano started to play, her voice took over the whole room. It was hypnotizing. Her voice was incredible and I couldn't keep my eyes off of her.
After her performance, I noticed she sat with another woman, they both looked so happy. Aaron noticed I was staring and he chimed in almost instantly.
"Are you going to stare at her all night or are you actually going to talk to her?"
"I shouldn't Aaron."
"Sometimes you have to take a chance man. This is it. Come on."
We made our way over to the table and when it ended with me being able to walk her back to the B and B, I was grateful Aaron gave me that extra push. We talked about everything, and she actually listened to what I had to say. I haven't felt like this with a woman in a long time. Everything just came naturally and even after finding out about what I do, she wasn't one of those girls that got sucked into the money or the fame of it. She didn't care about that, she was genuinely happy for me that I get to do what I love.
Before she left, I wanted to kiss her. Looking into her light green eyes made me feel again. I felt like I could just stare into them forever. I knew I had to ask her to tag along for the investigation. I wanted her to see what I do and love; how everything works. Most importantly I just wanted to spend more time with her. This was the perfect way to do that.
It was the next day and we all gathered in the dining room for breakfast. Jay spoke up at the table and we all listened in.
"So I went over everything I gathered from the museum and did some research on my own. I wanted to make sure everything was correct before I presented it to you guys but everything we've heard checks out. I looked into the history of the Bell's and there is only one living Bell left who currently resides on the property. I couldn't find a name but we could speak with whoever it is. And with the history of the Bell family, we should do it soon."
"We will check it out as soon as were done with this lockdown. Good work Jay." We all continued to eat, when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see Ms. Moore hunched down next to me.
"Good morning dear, I was just wondering how your night was last night."
"It was great actually. Why do you ask?" I noticed a hint of concern in her eyes.
