Zak POV
"Your not real.." She said as her eyes started to get heavy.
"Avery stay awake, look at me!" I yelled trying to hold onto her.
Her eyes closed almost instantly and I was left kneeling on the ground with her limp body in my arms. I heard the crunching of leaves behind me, causing me to turn back. Remembering Aaron had made the journey with me, I let out a sigh of relief and motioned him to come over quickly. Upon speed walking over to us he stopped dead in his tracks, looking past us almost terrified.
I looked in his line of sight and noticed several black shadows now standing in the yard, watching on. I looked back at Aaron who had now acquired wide eyes and tried speaking but failed to. After catching his train of thought he spoke,
"She looks just like her.."
I looked back, noticing the torn blue dress and shattered look within her eyes immediately. She looked like she had been dragged through hell and back but the resemblance was still clear. Sara proceeded to look around her saying something I couldn't quite understand and turned back to us, nodding at me.
"You know what to do."
I could hear Aaron try to catch his breath from behind me and all I could do was nod back.
"Aaron help me bring her inside."
He didn't answer and just stood with his feet planted to the ground.
"Aaron now!" I yelled causing him to jump.
"O-okay." He responded.
We both took opposite ends of her still frame and lifted her with ease as we rushed to her cottage. Placing her on the couch, I turned the fireplace on and layed out a heavy blanket over her. Her skin was ice cold, almost a blue hue, so I knew I needed to think fast.
"What the hell was that? Out there I mean?" Aaron looked like he had just seen a ghost. Well, he kind of did.
"They aren't the ones we need to worry about. Just trapped that's all. Robert, he's the spirit we need to send off."
"What happened to her? Her clothes..."
"I don't know but from my guess nothing good. When she wakes up we need to be extra careful okay? She didn't even think I was real when I found her."
"Christ... what are we going to do bro?" He looked slightly pale.
"First things first, I believe this needs to go back to its rightful owner." I placed the key in my hand and walked to her, placing it around her neck.
"That should be enough to protect her for now. In the mean time, call Billy and Jay. I want them out here as soon as possible. I will call the bishop and have him on the first flight out. Oh and of course I will call Declan and let him know what were about to do."
"I'm on it." He replied quickly.
I walked over to Avery and ran my fingers through her hair, feeling the warmth come back to her body. Satisfied, I took my phone from my pocket and made the calls I needed to make. Aaron resurfaced in the living room, telling me they would be arriving as quickly as possible.
"So what now?" He asked looking around the cottage.
"We wait."
I had Aaron lay down in the bedroom, while I chose a spot on the floor near Avery. No point in tiring ourselves out while waiting for everyone to arrive. We still had so much to do. It didn't take long for my eyes to give up on me and sleep soon came after.
