Will got out of the hospital about a week later, and Liz took them all out for celebratory ice cream. Eve sat next to Will, resting her cheek on her shoulder waiting for Liz to come back from outside where she had gone to take a phone call.

“I’m back! Guess who I brought!” Liz slid into the seat across from Eve and a man a little shorter than Will, with dark brown hair sat down. He had light brown eyes and he glanced over at Eve smiling briefly.

“Am I supposed to guess or will you just tell me?” Eve raised an eyebrow, and took Will’s hand gently, intertwining their fingers. She leaned over kissing his cheek before resting her head on his shoulder again.

“Get a room you two, and no, this is my boyfriend that’s always taking me away whenever we eat ice cream!” Liz grinned and leaned over kissing her boyfriend. “Meet Joel.” Liz grinned before copying Eve and laying her cheek on Joel’s shoulder. Eve stuck her tongue out before sitting up.

“But now my shoulder is cold…” Will pretended to pout and Eve smirked. “Hmph.” He stated softly, pulling Eve into his lap and resting his chin on her head.

Just then Will’s phone began to vibrate, and he took it out, answering it quickly.

“Hello? At the ice cream shop with Liz. Why? What happened? Is he alright? Alright I’ll be there as soon as possible.” Will quickly stood up. “I have to go. There’s been a… an accident… my father.” Liz nodded and Eve stood up next to Will.

“I’ll come.” She nodded, walking past him and to his car before he could protest.

When they arrived there was already an ambulance outside the house. Two paramedics were carrying a body into the back and Will rushed over.

“Calm down sir. He just had a stroke, I’m sure he’ll be fine.” The female paramedic smiled reassuringly. Eve ran up to Will and she thought she detected disappointment flash in his eyes before he nodded.

“Alright.” Will started to climb into the ambulance but they stopped him.

“Just stay at home alright? We’ll take care of this.” The male paramedic pushed Will back before closing the doors. Will sighed in defeat before walking inside the house, followed by Eve.

“I’ll call my mom and let her know what happened.” Will nodded towards Eve, and she slid her arms around his waist, pressing a gentle kiss to his shoulder. Will called and his mom said she was at the hospital already, and that she’d call if there was an improvement.

Will hung up, walking over to the couch and pulling Eve into his lap. She was turned, facing him, and they stared at each other intently. Will leaned forward capturing Eve’s bottom lip with his teeth and tugging gently. He smirked up at her and she sighed softly kissing him.

Eve felt Will’s tongue gently brush against her bottom lip, and Eve parted her lips. They continued kissing, pulling away ever now and then to breathe. Eve’s back hit something soft and she realized she was now laying down with Will leaning over her. Her thoughts however, were soon mixed-up due to what Will was doing to her neck.

There on that couch, a week before Christmas, they had sex. At the same time, a heart-rate monitor let out a continuous monotone beeping that meant someone was dead. At the same time, Will’s mother screamed. And at the same time, Will’s father died.
