Chapter Six

The Day Before;

BAEDEN'S POV

In the den, my pack surrounds me, clearly listening. "Okay, so I called this meeting because I discovered a little runt running around trying to hurt someone very important to me." I declared and that got them all listening. My parents stand aside, listening. Cleo, Hayden, James, Bella, and Emily made their way to the front.

"Who?" Emily frowned.

"You guys know her," I say. "Lizzy,"

"Lizzy?" Bella asked, frowning. "Baeden, what did you do?"

"Nothing, okay?" I tell her. "But I discovered something a few days ago. She's the one." They frowned. "She's my mate, that's what I'm trying to say!"

There were a few gasps, I looked at my parents and they smiled, proud of me. "Congratulations, son." Dad smiled. "I bet she's wonderful."

"But that's beside the point," I waved off. Bella scowled at me for not telling them first, but I ignored them. "The little runt almost attacked Lizzy if it wasn't for me jumping in and saving the day."

"Oh, what a hero," Emily said sarcastically and I growled at her. Cleo nudged Emily for me who glared at her. But because she's one of my closet friends, I'll let her off.

"Anyways," I glare at Emily. "I want to find out who this runt is and why he's running in my town."

"Well, is he in Kayden's pack?" Cleo suggested and I shake my head.

"No, I don't know this runt."

"What if it knows Lizzy?" Hayden asked, worried.

"I've got that scent locked," I tell them. "So I'm going to go back to Lizzy's place and see if he has been there before. James and Hayden, come with me. Everyone else stays alerted and protect Lizzy at all costs. That is an order."

"Yes, Alpha." A few of them murmured and I nodded, dismissing them.

"Come on," I tell my best friends and they nodded and we were off, sprinting out of the den and we chucked our shirts off, forming into our wolves.

I lead the way, running ahead of them zipping down the paths. I glowed my red eyes. Everyone in this town was werewolves other than Jen and Lizzy.

We easily made it to Lizzy's house and I nodded my head towards James and Hayden.

Search around properly. I used my Alpha power to contact them and they both nodded and I leapt into action, going towards the door. It smelt like Jen was home but Lizzy wasn't.

I whimpered slightly, wondering how I'm going to open this door. Thinking this was a smart idea, I scratched on the door and let a small whimper, I heard Jen walking towards the door and I quickly went to hide around the corner.

"Hello?" I heard Jen call, then she sighed realising no one was there. It was one of those doors that takes it time closing. So, she turned around and left to close automatically, I quickly snuck in. 

I looked around, making sure I didn't get caught. There was no scent downstairs, all I could catch was Lizzy's strawberry and vanilla scent. Honestly, I've never really like strawberry or vanilla, but now I love strawberry and vanilla.

I went upstairs and Lizzy scent was definitely up here more strongly, and I entered her room. She wasn't there thankfully, otherwise, she would be confused as to why I was here.

My eyes wandered over to the corner, it smelt like the little runt. I growled angrily, that runt has been in this house. The runt has been in my mate's house, I swear to God if I find out he hurt her, I'm going to kill him.

I found his scent. Hayden had told me in his mind.

Yeah, me too. In Lizzy's room. I growled again, glaring at the corner. Let's go, I want this house under watch 24/7, not butts.

You said butt.

I rolled my eyes and turned around, ready to go back to the pack.
