Chapter One

"Remember to smile," Mum says as we pulled into the school parking lot. "Smiling gets you friends. Look happy! And don't mumble, you know people hate the mumbling."

I nodded. "Yes, Mum." I love Mum, I really do, but I hate her lectures. "I love you, Mum."

"I love you too, sweetie. Good luck and have a great day!" Mum smiles at me and I smiled back before jumping out of the car with my bag and stood in the parking lot.

Mum drives off and I sighed, feeling the nerves. Deep breathes, Lizzy, you can do this. What if they don't like me? What if I'm not good enough to be even in this school? What if I get rejected.

I can't be rejected, this place will most likely be my home for a while. I pushed opened the door and everyone looked in my direction, all were shocked and some were amused.

My heart race, the nerves kicking in again. I quickly looked down. I hated the attention. I hated the spotlight.

It was like they were waiting for me to do something, which made me even more nervous. Wait, I was supposed to walk. Where am I even going again? Oh, yeah, the office.

I continued to walk down the hallway, trying to be discrete as I do this. Try not to make a fool of yourself, okay? I mentally told myself. Everyone was watching. The hallway silent.

Not looking where I was going, my shoulder collides in with something and I almost fell back but was quickly caught by someone.

I opened my eyes, my heart racing. Everyone just saw that. I looked and saw that I was met by someone with dark hair with matching dark eyes, he looked concerned almost. I now realised I had been pulled into his arms before I had fallen.

Why did I like this position so much? Why did I feel safe in his arms?

We were in this position way too long and everyone was still looking. I shifted back, pulling out of his embrace, heat rising to my cheeks.

"Are you okay?" His voice was low, making my heart leap in excitement. What was up with me? I frown at myself, wanting to slap me.

"Y-yeah, fine," I mumble, breaking one of my mother's rule.

Surprisingly he heard me and smiled. "You're new here, aren't you?" I nodded. "You're Lizzy, aren't you?" I looked at him, shocked. How did he know my name? "Sorry, my friend, Cleo, mentioned you yesterday,"

I nodded, recalling Cleo. "Oh," I murmur. "Thanks for not letting me fall... I guess."

He smiled. "That's fine, I can show you the office if you'd like?"

"O-okay," I stammer, nodding. Thank God someone's willing to show me to the office, I would've gotten lost. It was silent, throughout most of the way, all eyes were on us but it didn't seem to affect him. We reached the office and through the glass there were two girls sitting on a seat, looking like they're waiting for someone.

"This is it," he tells me.

"Thank you," I murmur, then frowned. I didn't get his name. "What's your name?"

He paused. "Baeden."

Now, that name rings a bell. I nodded, liking the sound of Baeden. "Nice name," I pressed my lips together and he smiled.

"I'll see you around, Lizzy," Baeden tells me, I nodded and he turned on his heel, then walked off, his shoulders dropping and he kept his head to the ground.

I then entered the office and the girl's sequel. "Oh! She's here!" One of them gasps, the red-haired. "Hi, I'm Bella and this is Emily! We're your welcome committee crew; your friends; your-"

"I think she gets it, Bell." Emily scowled at her friend. She then smiled. "Welcome to Spring Town High School! We hardly get any new people."

"So I've heard." I nodded, this was certainly not the first time I've heard this.

"So, you and Baeden?" Bella asks, smiling.

"What about us?" I ask, frowning. "He was just walking me to the Office."

Bella smile grew bigger. "Okay!" She chirps. "We've got your timetable and you've got the same study class as me, you've got the same art class as Em, same English class as Em, Baeden, and I," I drown them out, nodding my head every once and awhile. My school wasn't this welcoming.

In fact, they basically chucked me to the curve.

The bell then rings, drowning out my thoughts and I cringed as the bell was right above us. "Oh, sorry about that." Emily smiled sheepishly at me.

"We've got English class now!" Bella groaned. "I hate English. Maths is where the fun is at."

Emily scrunched up her nose. "No, it's not."

Bella scoffed. "Okay, let's go to..." she shuddered dramatically. "English." That made me smile genuinely, I don't mind English, I had to agree with Emily, it's much better than Maths.

I followed the two out and they bicker about which subject was better. We entered English and there was the English teacher, grinning at me.

"You must be Lizzy!" The teacher smiled. "I'm Mr. T, your English teacher for the year." Mr. T. "So, what brings you to Spring Town?"

Why does everyone ask me this question? "Um, my Mum found it I guess, and we just... came," I answered as simply as I could.

Mr. T nodded. "Interesting." Mr. T then gestured towards the class. "Everyone make sure you make Lizzy welcome, remember smile, don't frown." Mr. T scowled at the class and everyone laughed as if it was some inside joke.

I shrugged it off mentally and chewed on my lower lip. "So, what are your opinion on werewolves?" A kid shouted from the back off the class and my eyes widen.

"Werewolves?" I repeated. What the hell? "Um, they're cool, I guess. Werewolves are probably better than most supernatural creatures."

That made the whole class grin, some people high fived each other. "You're going to fit in just fine," Mr. T tells me, patting me on the back and I nodded.

I couldn't help think about the Scott McCall pack, a small smile set on my face but I quickly looked at the floor and walked over to the spare seat, it just so happened to be next to Baeden.

Baeden was smiling at me again but I ignored his charming smile and turned the front, ready to go home.

This place was sure as hell is weird.
