Chapter Thirty-Three
"Pick your weapon."
"Weapon? I thought I was being taught how to fight physically."
"That is your back up plan."
I huffed as I stand in James' basement, where we are after school. This is where he trained with his father before his father died, James recons his father was the best father in combat fighting.
"Combat fighting is a back up, really?"
"Just pick a weapon!"
I sighed heavily and my eyes scan across the bench where many weapons were held. Different types of guns, swords, knives... Something catches my eye.
I grabbed the bow from its stand. "Bow and arrow."
"Bow and arrow, really?"
"I used to to archery, okay? It's the only thing I'm actually good at."
"Lier, you're good at lots of things."
"Name one thing." I looked back at him. He doesn't utter a word. "That's what I thought."
"Shut up." He mumbled. "All right, well at least this will be a little bit easier because you've had experience with a bow an arrow."
"I can smother it in wolfsbane!" I realised with a wide smile.
"Yeah, but remember, don't kill all of us." James reminded me and I rolled my eyes. "You think Baeden was pissed when he saw us leave together?"
I nod. "Most defiantly."
I test out the waters with this bow and arrow after putting the gear on, the gloves for protecting my hands, I placing the arrow in its place and I noticed a dart board.
I smirked and held my bow up, using the correct way and I made sure the arrow was lined up to the bullseyes with my eyes.
I pulled back and let go, taking my shot.
I got it in the bullseyes.
James lets out a whistle. "Damn, you're good."
"Now, lets see about combat fighting?"
-
It's been about an hour, and all the limbs in my body are aching.
And James says that only the start of it.
So, tomorrow I come back to his and we're fighting again. And he taught some more skills about bow and arrows that I sort of knew.
It's been a week now.
I've ignored Baeden, at first it was purposely, and now it's not. I haven't seen outside of school, but only because of trainings.
Which is where we are now, in the halls where the entire pack is. Baeden standing up on the stage with me next him in, Hayden and James lined up beside me.
Baeden has called a meeting about the war. He just announced it and my eyes scans over the pack. We were in the town hall which was specifically designed for meetings like this and so the whole pack can fit.
The pack mumbled things to each other, I noticed Emily, Maddie, Cleo, and Bella standing near the front stage, looking up at us, not fazed by this information.
Baeden told them last week.
"Quiet!" Baeden's voice booms over the loud murmur. "We begin to train today..." he continues to explain what's going to happen but I drown his voice out.
My eyes flick to James for a brief moment and he noticed me starring at him and he gave me a quick smile. I gave him back.
Before I know it, the pack was leaving, making me snap out of my own voice. The only people stayed behind was Mum, Emily, Maddie, Cleo, and Bella.
"You okay?" I heard Baeden whisper in my ear and I looked up at him.
"Yeah, I'm fine..." I mumbled. I'm still gonna refuse Baeden to let me leave rather than stay and fight.Suddenly, a whistle like a tone filled my eyes, making my eyes dart around the room to see who was whistling. I took a good look at the girls and my Mum who are on the ground, looking back up at us the to the boys, who was standing next to me.
The whistle became louder, my frown deepening. The noise... It's kind of like a peaceful whistling like someone singing but whistling a song. I'm not sure what song it is, I've never heard it before, but it sounds... Nice.I felt a hand placed on my back. "Are you sure?" Baeden whispers in my ear. "You seem... Freak out and your heart rate is rising."
"I'm fine..." I mumbled. "I'm going to... Go." I exit off the stage and once I was on the ground, I was running. I ran towards the car, where my Bow and Arrow kit was. I pulled out the keys, the whistling getting louder in my ears.
I'm surprised none of the other werewolves could hear it. Hell, I'm not even a werewolf.
I opened up the boot and got my Bow and Arrow before shutting the boot and locking it, I then run towards the forest.
I knew Baeden was going to come and find me. It's only a matter when. But, I have to find this whistling noise and if its someone trying to fuck with me, then I want to know.I made it to the forest, I was surprised I was out of breath, I guess its a perk training with James. Sometimes, he'd make me run in this forest area, while he was the wolf chasing me.
That got me a few bruises that session.I quickly got my Archey gear out of the gear bag, putting everything in place. The whistling suddenly stopped where I was in the forest.
My breath hitches slightly as I put the arrow in the bow, I pulled back the bow and slowly moved around in circles, trying to settle my breathing, trying to make it as quiet as possible like what James had taught me.
I wait here for about five minutes, but nothing. Nothing happens in that five minutes. No whistling sound, it was scarily quiet.I was about to lower my bow and give up, but I heard a crack and I was quick to turn around and shoot.
Thank God I shot past him, otherwise, I would've hurt Baeden who stands there with wide eyes. Oh, my God. I watched the arrow hit the tree behind him.
"Liz, what the hell is going on?" Baeden demands in his authority voice, which he's never used with me, but I chose to ignore it. Most people are terrified of his "authority" voice.
"Nothing, Baeden." I lied, dropping my bow.
"Well, obviously something is wrong, you almost shot me!" Baeden exclaimed. "I mean, I don't care you almost shot me, but why the hell are you out here alone with a bow and arrow?"
I huffed and grabbed my gear bag, holding my bow and I walked away from him. "It doesn't concern you!"
He lets out a small growl and I yelped when was right by my side and I stopped in my tracks. "Just answer me. I know we're not on the best terms at the moment, but you can tell me whats going on, you know that, right?" His voice became softer.I glanced up at him. "It's nothing, just, leave me alone."
I pressed my lips together and walked away from him, this time he doesn't use his wolf speed and chase after me.
I made it back to the car. Mum wasn't even there. Looks like I'm driving home. I shove my gear in the back.
I was a lot annoyed. First of all, what the hell was that? Maybe I'm just going crazy or something. I jump in the car, donig my seatbelt up and starting the car.
I'm going to find out what that whistling sound is, without Baeden's help.A/N
