Chapter Sixteen

I walked into school the next morning with Bella and Emily by my side. Everyone had stopped what they were doing and looked at me. It was like the first day of school again. Expect, they all I know what they are.

Most of them glare at me and it looked like some of them feared me. I inhaled and Emily shoots me a smile. "Lizzy, you're gonna be fine. We've got you." Emily then grabbed my wrist and dragged me away from the hallway.

We enter English class, most kids were here but the teacher wasn't. I saw Baeden sitting down at our table with Hayden next to him. We walked over to them and I sat down beside Baeden who smiled at me.

"Hey," Baeden greeted and kissed my lips for a second and Hayden groaned.

"Stop," Hayden sighed. "Not in front of the children," Hayden nods his head towards Bella and Emily who both glared at Hayden.

"Shut up!" Bella retorted, she throws her pencil at Hayden who easily catches it.

He laughed. "You're not getting this back!" He stuck out his tongue, grinning.

"Says the man child," Emily mutters, taking her seat. I pulled my chair in forward so I'm closer to the table. The bell rings. More kids poor into this class, I could feel some starring at me and Baeden grabs my hand from under the table.

"It's okay," Baeden mumbled to me and I nodded, believing his words.

"I'm home, Mum!" I yell, opening my door to my house. She was in the kitchen, no surprise there. I knew she was coming home early today. I entered the kitchen hit with the delicious smell of Nachos. "Oo!" I walked over to the pot of mince and tried to dib my finger in the pot.

Tried.

"No!" Mum smacks my hand away and I pouted. "This is for dinner, not afternoon snacks."

"Okay, okay," I rolled my eyes and walked over to the pantry. I decided to grab a bar and unwrapped it, taking a bite of it.

"Don't eat too much before dinner," Mum tells me.

"Oh, I won't, you're nachos are everything!" I sing, she smiled at me.

"Thanks, sweetie," before I could walk out the door, she stopped. "Oh, sweetie, Mike's coming over for dinner tomorrow. I'm going to introduce you to him and his son."

I nodded. "Mike. So, I finally get a name?" I teased and she gave me a sheepish smile. "And does this son have a name, too? Or should I call him, son."

"He does," Mum chuckled. "It's Kayden."

Why does Kayden sound so familiar?

"Oh, nice name," I murmur. "But, since you're inviting your boyfriend; can I invite mine?"

Mum's face brightens up and she stopped what she was doing and turned to me, squealing. "Are you serious? Is it Baeden? I bet it's Baeden!"

I nodded, blushing a little. "It's Baeden," I confirm.

She smiles some more. "Oh! This is so great! Yes, he can come over! You know, I've always liked that Baeden boy,"

"You've met him, like, once," I tell her.

She shrugs. "He seemed nice,"

"Well, for the record, he is nice." I nodded. "And I'll promise you'll like him,"            

"I already do like him," Mum informed me. "I promise you'll like Mike."

"Okay, good." I agreed. "But if that promise is broken... you owe me 20 bucks."

Mum nods. "And if your promise is broken, you owe 30."

I frown. "30? You owe me 20!"

Mum smiled cheekily. "You don't pay the bills, do you?"

I sighed, caving in. "Okay, okay, deal." I stuck out my hand and she shakes on it. I narrowed my eyes at her and she narrows her eyes at me.

"You're going to train Baeden to be nice and polite, aren't you?"

"Nope, I was going to call up Mike tell him to be a complete bitch to me," I smiled sarcastically at her.

"Language," she scowled. Totally worth it.

"Oh, don't act all innocent, you were going to sweet talk your way to Mike telling him to be nice and all that." I accused, seeing right through her eyes. "Got 24 hours, better start quick!"

Se scoffed and pulled back her arm, turning to the kitchen. "You're the devil child, Lizzy,"

I grin. "Yes, I am."
