Chapter Thirty
It's been a few weeks and everything had calmed down and gotten back to normal. It's a miracle, really, that Baeden and Kayden are being civil towards each other.
Our three month anniversary is coming up next weekend, which makes me excited. I've never been committed to this type of relationship before for this long. Any relationship for that matter.
I have English. I doodled in English, hardly paying any attention. My hands intertwined with Baeden's who was in front of me. It kept us both calm.
I drew a massive flower on the page, making it as detailed as I can with only one pencil. I ended up doing a pretty good for thirty minutes into the session.
That's when a knock on the door was heard and everyone who had been working in a page for English looks up, the silence is disturbed. The Principle comes in. "Hello, class." He greets and Mr. T turned to the principal. "I have a new student that will be joining us for the rest of the year. Please make sure she's welcomed."
In comes a redhead. I looked at her. I studied her. I know her from somewhere. The Principal then left, giving one last smile to the new girl.
"Hello." Mr. T beamed. "I'm Mr. T, your new English teacher. You must be Maddie Parker, am I right?"My eyes widen in surprise. It's Maddie! I grin immediately and gave a look to Bella and Emily, who all shoots me a gleeful look.
"Yes." Maddie quietly states, looking down at the ground. She looks a lot healthier than last time I saw her. She has more colour on her face.
She doesn't notice us staring at her. Probably because the entire class is actually staring at her.
"Well, welcome Maddie." Mr. T says happily. "Take a seat where you can find one."
There was a spare seat at our table. Before Maddie could sit with another table, I called her name. "Maddie!"
She seemed surprised to see me but gave me a quick smile before walking over to us. "Uh, hi guys." She took the seat that was at the head of the table."Maddie, what are you doing here?" Bella asks excitedly.
"When I got to Littleton, I lost everyone," Maddie tells us quietly. "Nobody wanted to hang out with the freak that got... you know." We nod, understanding... kind of. "I told my parents I wanted to move and I did. I live with my Aunt now."
"But you just got back with your family," I tell her, my heart sinking for the girl.Maddie shrugged. "I'll see them during holiday events. It won't be that bad. I knew that I wanted to move here because not only is half of my family is here, but you guys are here, too. I knew I'd just fit in."
"You're welcomed to stay with anyone of us at any time." I offered, making her smile. "Isn't that right, guys?" I looked over at them. Bella nodded enthusiastically, Emily gave her a smile and Baeden nodded.
"Thanks, guys. That means a lot." Maddie tells us. "What are we doing in English?""Literally nothing," I replied.
"You're doing nothing." Baeden pointed out. "While the rest of us are working on English practice essays for exams."
"Oh, that's what you're doing..." I looked down at the sheets spread out on my table. "Here, have mine." I give her my sheets of paper. "I won't need them anyway."
"What? Yes you do." Maddie claims. "You're gonna fail without them."
I shrugged. "I have Baeden. He can help me study. Plus, I'm really good at winging things and succeeding highly in them."
"Can't relate," Emily grumbled, before looking down at her work.
"Okay," Maddie says hesitantly before taking it. The rest of the period was me just drawing.
Turns out, Maddie is in Emily's and mine art class, too. She's freaking amazing.
Maddie's been center of attention ever since she's gotten her and I'm concerned, she doesn't seem very comfortable with it. I mean, I understand, she's been trapped her entire life. She's probably used to the feeling of being trapped rather than being welcomed.Rachel did not like that at all. She keeps throwing Maddie glares, Maddie's oblivious to it. Maddie doesn't need to know that Rachel absolutely hates her guts.
Maddie closes her locker. Which happened to be next to mine. "Thanks, Lizzy."
"For?" I ask, leaning on my locker, smiling.
"Everything. I guess." Maddie shrugged before closing the door.
"I've told you before, I'll say it again." I tell her. "You don't have to thank me for anything." She laughs. "Hey, I'm feeling the Diner tonight. You wanna come?"
She beamed at me. "Really? What's "The Diner"?"
"It's this place I sometimes hang out with either just me or my friends," I say. "The first place I went to when I got here, actually."
"It's an eating place?" I nod. "We have something similar in Littleton, I guess."
"Perfect."A/N
