Katie's - POV
"All right new recruits, get into a straight line." Dr.Rodriguez, whose first name I had heard from the chatter of others as Ana, demanded. "Quickly now, we don't want to have to make you."
Ana seemed like one of the higher ups. She was constantly ordering others around and was the one other people went up to if they needed help.
None of the students dared to though. They seemed too scared and I definitely understood why.
"First we have 2 hours of jogging." She said pointing at the indoor track that already had a few kids running around it. "Then we move onto 50 squats, 30 push ups, 20 pull ups and we finish off with 3 hours in the rooms."
I looked around me at all the kids as they shuffled nervously, some playing with their fingers and crossing their feet while others looked at the ground, clearly scared.
"Just remember, once we start you can't stop, otherwise you'll regret it." She said in a tone like this was normal and expected.
A girl near the front chuckled. "What are you going to do about it. There are more of us that you so you can't make us do anything."
I heard some of the other girls grow louder as they seemed to be latching onto this girls confidence, but not me. Not after what I had been through.
They didn't understand that they would actually have something horrible done to them if they didn't comply. The fact that they hadn't experienced the pain I had or the utter despair I had felt for weeks made me feel very jealous, but those thoughts were quickly washed away as Ana started talking again.
Her eyes scanned over the children, seemingly taking note of who was opposing her and who wasn't questioning her decision before she came to a conclusion.
"Put the girl up." She said, apparently to no one. It was only then that I noticed 5 people with masks on dropping out of the shadows. The others saw it a little after me and quieten down, losing all the confidence they had built up.
They grabbed the girl. Four holding her to make sure she couldn't move one bit while the other tied her hands above her head. They then dragged her over to a chain hanging from the ceiling and wrapped it around the rope that tied her hands together.
She was kicking and thrashing so they bound her legs as well, making sure that she wasn't a threat any longer.
I was scared about what they were going to do and wasn't sure if she'd still be alive by the end of it. I didn't want to see any person die in front of me.
Three girls without masks walked out with tape around their hands and blank looks on their faces. They looked a little older that me but still very young.
"You may go." Ana said to the masked figures.
They nodded and vanished back into the shadows, leaving the room, although their mencing presence loomed.
"Now, make sure you watch closely because this will be you if you don't listen to exactly what I'm saying." She said, standing next to the girl who had now frozen up and gone sheet white.
The three people that had entered before suddenly surrounded her and waited for Dr.Rodriguez's commanded.
"Begin." She said with a calm and loose tone, seeming to perk up from watching the display that was about to happen.
The girls started hitting the strung up kid hard, aiming only for the gut. Some of the girls were in shock while others looked like they were about to cry. The pained cries from beaten girl were very hard to listen to.
The beating continued and the girl suddenly threw up all over the floor, her puke a tinge red from blood.
I felt a strange feeling of satisfaction wash over me. I was glad that someone else was going to experience even a fraction of my pain. If I had to deal with this then more people should as well.
These thoughts went as quickly as they came and I was left feeling a bit confused about those fleeting feelings so I shook myself and ignored it.
The cries and screams had vanished and all that was left was the sounds of the grunts from the girls and of their fists hitting the girl in the stomach.
After what felt like ages Ana got the three girls to leave.
"This will be you if you don't comply." She said, her menacing glance scouring across all of us. "Never, ever question my power."
She suddenly turned around and undid that chain holding the girl up and she flopped onto the group; out cold.
The others stood in shocked silence. They obviously hadn't expected anything like this and this kind of violence seemed foreign to real life violence by simply eye test. Like me before I arrived here.
Ana walked out gesturing for us to follow. A heavy silence descended over the whole group as we left the bare room, leaving the poor girl a beaten mess upon the floor.
We walked down the corridor, the boots that they gave us being the only sound made. We walked until we reached the end of the corridor and then followed Ana inside the door.
"Listen up," She said in a calm tone with a mencing smile. "We are going to start your training now, and don't complain as we don't want another incident now, do we?"
Everyone remained quiet and didn't dare to utter a word.
"Good," she said as her whole personality changed into a more cheerful one. "Now get to it. We haven't got all day."
