After we finally found Lewis a present that would please his girlfriend, we sat down in Panera for lunch where he ordered a turkey sandwich, and I just got a chocolate chip cookie and apple Fuji salad with chicken. I didn’t tell Lewis that I was going out with Zach yet, he doesn’t even know that he came to visit yesterday.
“Hey guess who stopped by yesterday?” I asked
“Zach and Mary, mom told me, can’t believe they stopped by when I wasn’t there.” He replied.
“Oh.” I wasn’t expecting him to know. “Yes so anyways, me and Zach made plans to chill, he’s going to be picking me up soon.”
“Sweet, at least you won’t be wasting another day away doing nothing.” I gave Lewis a dirty look mumbling under my mouth, “shut up.”
Walking out of the mall, Zach was parked in his BMW. After me and Lewis finished lunch, Lewis left for his party and Zach called me to tell me he was here.
As soon as I got into Zach’s car, he greeted me with a smile, “long time no see.”
“Yes, it’s been the longest 24 hours of my life,” I replied. “So what are we doing?”
Zach looked at me, “It’s a surprise don’t worry.” “Don’t worry, for all I know you could have become a serial killer, and I am your next victim.”
He rolled his eye, “Yes because we didn’t grow up together and are complete strangers, “he said sarcastically. “Fine, whatever you have planned, let’s go.”I said.
As we drove, the radio played in the background, “because you know I’m all about that bass, bout that bass, no treble” I sang along, and starting to feel more comfortable I started to sing louder. Singing the rest of the ride to wherever we were going.
As the car slowed down, I didn’t notice that we entered a parking lot, Zach turned and laughed at me, “finally we are here, and I don’t have to listen to you sing anymore.” I turned my head and went to go smack him, like I had a habit it of doing. Zach caught my arm, causing me to fall slightly forward. He was so close I could feel his breathing, “what’s with you and hitting me all the time?” he whispered. “Well what’s with you saying stupid shit all the time?”
Zach smirked, and looked from my lips to my eyes; I took a deep breath and cleared my throat backing away from his face and unlocking his arm from his wrist. I looked out the window noticing we were at a beach. What there were no beaches in Toronto? Well there was but it didn’t look like the one we were at. The boardwalk and stores looked familiar though. We were at Wasaga; I didn’t even notice we drove for an hour and a half.
“You brought us to Wasaga, what are we going to do here?” I asked.
Zach looked at me like I just asked the stupidest thing ever. “Swim, go for a walk, what you usually do at a beach, I even brought a football, and before picking you up I stopped by your house to get your swim suit.”
