With nothing to do when I got home, I went straight to my room and turned on the Netflix. I searched through the movies to watch, until all of a sudden my phone started to ring. Without checking the caller id I picked it up.

“Hello.” I said. And there was no reply, “hello,” I repeated.

All of a sudden I heard someone on the other line breathe deeply into the phone, “listen ain’t anybody got time for this crap, I know you is there.” I said in a joking voice.

The person started laughing, “Alex lets be real you have time for this, you’re probably sitting at home watching Netflix.” I recognized Lewis’ voice.

“Fuck you, what do you want.” I replied. “Can you come pick me up?”

I stayed quiet for a moment before replying, I had my driver’s license but Lewis knew I hated to drive, that’s why I usually took the bus everywhere I went. “Can’t you just take the bus, where are you anyways?” I said. “Weren’t you and Vanessa hanging out?”

“We went to this party, and then someone called the cops so I left and the police kind of caught me, and I was really drunk so now I’m in jail, and I need your help.” I couldn’t believe this, but knowing Lewis I wasn’t surprised it was bound to happen at one point or another.

“Lewis how do you expect me to bail you out of jail, I’m only 17 years old.” I told him, I took a deep breath, “okay ill work something out.”

“Just please don’t tell mom or dad, “he begged. “ No shit, why else would you have called an underage citizen.”

I hung up on Lewis and went straight to dialing Zach’s number, “miss me already,” he picked up on about the fifth ring.

“Zach I need your help, Lewis got himself arrested and I need your help bailing him out.”

“I don’t know if I should be surprised or not, well I don’t know if they’ll release him to me, but I can try.” He said. “I’ll be there soon, “he said before hanging up.

I put my phone down and lay back in my bed. Just a couple of days ago I was doing nothing with my life, and now because Zach was back in my life it had changed so much. I lay in bed and slowly I started to fade into a sleep.

My eyelids shot open, and automatically last night’s situation of Lewis came into mind, I rolled over and lying beside me was Lewis. He lay there snoring, obviously in a deep sleep. I grabbed my pillow and started to hit him over the head. He instantly woke up, “what the hell Alex,” he yelled.

“Don’t what the hell me, what the hell happened last night.” I stopped hitting him, and sat there waiting for his explanation. “Zach came and bailed me out.”

“That’s it, Zach just came and bailed you out.” “Ya that’s about it.” I just stared at him.

“Fine, so you know how I got caught and everything and then Zach told me he came to get you and waited outside so dad didn’t get suspicious why he was there, but you weren’t answering, so he came and got me and at first they weren’t going to release me into his custody, because he’s 19, but you know police and shit so he bribed them and promised to take good care of me.” He paused. “Oh and ya thank you for calling him.”

I didn’t know what to say or how to reply to him, so I just hit him again and got up out of the bed. “ Oh and Zach wants to go to the mall with you today and watch a movie I think.” Right at that moment my phone rang, and I looked over to see it was Zach calling.

I picked up the phone and before I could say anything Zach spoke, “hey sleepy head,” “hey, thank you so much for getting Lewis yesterday.”

“No biggie, so today want to go to the mall?” he asked.
