Sans woke up from their dream with a few tears rolling down their cheeks before getting out of bed then looks at the floor.They saw a slice blueberry pie with cherry crust on a plate with a note,Sans picks up and read the note
'I placed a slice of pie for you when you wake up,Hope you enjoy it-Love Mom'Sans felt more guilt fill them.
They wipe away their tears as they picked up the plate and pocketed the slice of pie before leaving the room.Sans walked into the room next to their's that had a diary open,Sans read it and saw a pun before giggling a bit as they left the room to go talk to Maria.They saw Maria sitting a chair reading a book
"Hi Mom"they called to her,she looks up and smiles
"I'm so happy to have you here my child,It has been many years since I had company.I have prepare your diet with the same quality as you eat,I know the lack of sunlight is a main problem but don't worry I'll take care of it!"she said.
Sans had a sad look because of what they were going to ask but they knew they have to even though they don't like it
"Mom...How do I leave the Ancient Temple?"they asked.
They saw Maria pale and became nervous
"Um,how about a very unique fact like stars!Did you know that stars goes through a cycle like animals!"she said trying to not answer Sans' question
"I have to find a friend of mine,I can't stay here!So please...tell me how I can leave."Sans asked again.
Maria became silent before she got up from her chair
"I have to do something real quickly.Wait here my child"she said before leaving the room and down the stairs to the basement.
Sans followed her wondering what she's doing,Once they got to the basement's hallway they saw her waiting
"You wish to know how to leave do you not.Ahead of us lies the end of the Ancient Temple.A one-way exit to the rest of the underground.I am going to destroy it."She said serious before continue walking as Sans followed in fear.
She stops walking to talk
"No one will ever leave again.Now go upstairs and go to your room"she started walking again and Sans followed her
'I can't let her destroy it!I just can't!'Sans yelled in their head,Maria stopped again
"Every monster that falls here meets the same fate.I have seen it again and again.They come.They leave.They die.You naive child...If you leave the Ancient Temple...They...JAMES...will kill you.I am only trying to protect you,do you understand?Go to your room?"She said as she continues walking as Sans follows her again.
Sans couldn't let her destroy the exit
"Do not try to stop me.This is your final warning"Maria said as Sans follows her until they reached the door
"You want to leave so badly?Hpmh.You are just like the others.There is only one solution to this.Prove yourself"She demanded as Sans froze up
'She...She doesn't mean!'
She then turns around
"Prove to me you are strong enough to survive!"She yelled as her hands had fireballs.Sans became scared,they couldn't hurt Maria...They just can't!
"Mom!Please I can't stay here!Please let me go!"Sans yelled with tears.
Maria threw her fireballs at Sans but Sans dodged them"Please,Mom!I have to leave!I need to find him!"Sans explained to her as she looks at them
"What are you doing?"Maria asked them
"I don't belong here!So please let me go!"Sans screamed Maria huffed
"Attack or Run away!"she yelled sending more fireballs at Sans.
Sans was hit with one of them
"GAAAHHH!"Sans screamed in pain"Mom,please!Let me go!
"They cried as Maria sighs with sadness
"What are you proving this way?"she asked but her voice and eyes were filled with sadness
"Mom...please"Sans whispered and Maria had tears in her eyes
"Fight me or Leave!"she ordered.
Sans looks at her with tears in their eyes and a look of sorrow
"Stop that.Stop looking at me that way!"she ordered but Sans continues
"Please,I need to find him"they said
"Go away!"she screamed throwing more fireballs
"I need to find my friend"Sans said with sorrow as Maria growls
"Please...Let me go...I need to find him...Please..."Sans begged.
Maria became even more said
"Mom...Let me leave."they said Maria threw more fireballs but moves them away from them
"I know you want to go home,but..."She drifted off as Sans looks at her with tears
"But please...go upstairs now"she asked but Sans stayed
"I promise I will take good care of you her."she said but Sans didn't move with their arms open wide
"I know we do not have much,but...We can have a good life here."she said
"Why are you making this so hard?"she asked
"Please,go upstairs."she begged but Sans gets closer to her.
Maria became silent then speaks
"Ha ha...Pathetic,is it not?I cannot save even a single monster."she cried as Sans gets closer to her
"No,I understand.You would just be unhappy trapped down here.The Ancient Temple is very small once you get used to it.It would not be right for me to keep you from your family.My expectations...My loneliness...My fear...For you,my child,I will put them aside."Maria said as the fireballs disappears
"please be careful,my child.But...Do not return here.I hope you can understand."Maria hugged Sans before heading back upstairs.
Sans wiped away their tears as the walked through the exit and down the hallway,only to see Tiff waiting for them
"Clever,very clever."Tiff said with a smirk
"You spared the life of a single person.You were able to play by your own rules"Tiff started laughing maniacally.
"In this world.It's kill or BE killed!It always has been,since the beginning of time!And it always will be,no mater how mush you refuse to accept it!"Tiff said
"But what will happen if you meet a relentless killer?You'll die,and you'll die,and you'll die.Will you kill out of frustration?"Tiff asked with a smile
"Or will you give up on this world,and let ME inherit the power to control it?I am the Princess of this world's future!"Tiff said to Sans
"Hehehe...Don't worry,my little monarch,my plan isn't regicide!This is SO much more interesting!"Tiff face morphed into something horrifying as she laughed before leaving.
Sans continue walking into a snowy forest,Despite Sans being a skeleton they did get a little cold.Sans continue walking through the snow,stepping over a big branch in the middle of the path.Only to hear a snap in a few seconds Sans turned around to see the big branch snapped in half before they continue walking.They reached the bridge with wide bars,as Sans was looking at it they freeze when they heard footsteps coming closer to them and stopped right behind them
"Monster...Don't you know how to greet a new pal?Turn around and shake my hand."The voice ordered them,Sans turns around as told they couldn't see who they were.
The person held out their hand as Sans slowly move their hand towards the person's hand.Once their hand made contact with the other's hand a Whoopie cushion noise was heard as it released its air.
