C H A P T E R O N E

A small squeak of surprise escaped my mouth as I felt Legolas's arms about me, wrapping snuggly against my small frame and pulling me close, so close I could hear every beat of his electrified heart. An overwhelming wave of confusion and joy was quick to wash over me as my face flushed crimson, it was all so sudden and perfectly unexpected, I was so unsure if it was even real.

But perhaps it wasn't.

As quick as the interaction began, it had ended.

"M-My King," I stuttered with shock, my eyes vastly widening with wonder as Legolas's arms quickly withdrew me from him and held me from afar. His deep eyes washed over me, x-raying me with bewilderment, as if he didn't recall doing such a thing.

"Forgive me, (Y/N)," He spoke softly, releasing my shoulders from his aching touch. "How rude of me to touch you," He muttered, speaking to himself rather than to me. "I shan't do it again," He whispered in a helpless manner, his blue orbs begged me for forgiveness, forgiveness I didn't need nor understand.

"At ease, my King," I assured with a small smile, a smile I didn't feel. "You are forgiven," I added hastily, my eyes flickering to the ground.

"Many thanks, dear (Y/N)." He smiled with relief, inclining his head with respect before departing from my side. I watched with an aching heart, it throbbed with the urge to run after him, to have him touch me so affectionately once more... One touch just wasn't enough.

But of course, such things couldn't happen nor be seen by any other. For I was his advisor and far from anything royal, and he, he was...

I watched with despairing sorrow as his arm linked with that of another elleth who possessed much greater beauty and heavenly manner than I, her green eyes flickered between I and Legolas, the bright and beautiful iris's were quickly clouded with question and alarm. Legolas shook his head, smiling earnestly as the elleth soon returned the gesture with an equal vibrance. She then took his hand in hers and stood on tiptoe to embrace the feel of Legolas's lips on hers.

...he was married.
