I Dream Of You

Chapter Two: Super Trouper

Pauly paused when she realized that she still hadn't answered Cher. It was understandable on why she had started rambling without giving an actual answer, she was shocked. She looked at the tests one more time before she continued, "They're uh positive."

Cher sat there, shocked, as she looked at her best friend. She said to herself more than anyone else, "Is that still even possible?"

She quickly turned her attention back to Pauly. She said, "Are you sure?"

Pauly nodded and said, "Pretty sure. Here look for yourself."

She picked up the four tests off of the bathroom counter and showed them to Cher, only to have her take them from her hands. Cher just started at the positive tests in her hands, still not completely sure how she got pregnant at her age. Well, she knew how she did, she just wasn't sure how it was still possible. She was brought out of her thoughts when she heard Pauly start talking again. Pauly said, "Those may all be positive but you should still go see your doctor to confirm everything."

She nodded and said, "Okay."

She tossed the test in the trash and looked back at Pauly. It was silent for a moment before she said, "Would you just get over here and hug me?"

Pauly chuckled and walked over to her. She wrapped her arms around her and pulled her in for a hug. She said, "We'll figure this out, okay? Everything will be alright and if you truly are pregnant, then there will be a new baby in the family and that's a good thing."

Cher pulled away from the hug slightly so she could see her friend's face. She said, "How do you know that I'm going to keep it?"

She smiled and said, "Because I know you."

They stood there for a few more moments hugging before Pauly spoke up, "Let's get out of the bathroom and talk on your bed."

She nodded and let go of her so she could walk out into her room. She was followed out by Pauly and they talked for another hour before Pauly had realized what time it was. Just she was about to speak, she noticed her best friend yawn. She smiled slightly and said, "Why don't you get some sleep? I'll come back tomorrow and we can go to your doctors to confirm it."

Cher yawned once more before she said, "Okay."

She hugged her best friend before she watched her leave the house. When she laid back down on her bed, she quickly fell asleep. She sleeping soundly for about a hour before she was woken up. She tried but she couldn't fall back to sleep. She grabbed her phone but there was nothing of interest on it. After looking at her phone for a few moments, she called Meryl without actually thinking what time it was were she was at. She just wanted someone to talk with about what was happening. She listened to it ring before she heard her answer.

Meryl was woken up next to her sleeping husband to her phone ringing. She saw who was calling her, she wasn't quite she why she was calling her, but knew that it must be at least somewhat important for her to call her this late. She quickly got out of bed to answer her phone and not wake up Don. She answered her phone the second she got out of the room. As she walked down the hall and into the living room, she said, "You're aware that it's past midnight, why are you calling me and why couldn't it wait until morning?"

Before she talked back to her, she looked at the time, realizing that it really was past midnight. She remember that she was on the phone and said, "I couldn't sleep and. And. And."

The blonde said, "And? What's wrong?"

Cher continued, "Shit Meryl, I'm pregnant."

Meryl was shocked for a few moments before she said, "Are you sure?"

She nodded to herself, like Meryl was actually in the room with her. She said, "I'm pretty sure Mary Louise."

Meryl was about to comment about Cher calling her by her first and middle name but she stopped when she heard what sounded like crying on the other end of the phone. Her train of thought completely changed. She said, "Hey, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"

Cher wiped the few tears that were still on her cheeks. She was silent for another moment before she let out a small laugh. She said, "I don't know. Is it too early to say that it's the hormones?"

She chuckled back, "No, it's never too early for that."

She paused before she said, "So you are absolutely sure that you're pregnant?"

Cher said, "I mean I took four pregnancy tests, but I still need my doctor to confirm it."

Meryl nodded to herself and said, "When were you going to do that?"

She said, "Hopefully tomorrow, if she has an opening."

She said, "Is there going to be someone there with you?

Cher said, "Pauly was coming, but I would love if you were able to come."

Meryl thought about it for a few moments before she said, "I'll be there. I'm going to book the first flight out tomorrow morning. I'll see you before noon. We'll talk more when I get there."

She paused before she continued, "We should probably go back to sleep if I'm going to catch the morning flight. Good night Cherilyn."

She laughed lightly, "Good night Mary, see you tomorrow."

With that being said, they hung up the phone and both went back to sleep. Cher slept well after having her talk with Meryl, she did always know how to calm her down when she wasn't able to talk to Pauly.
