I Dream Of You

Chapter Four

Pauly and Meryl walked out with Cher after Dr. Martin had given her the ultrasound pictures. Sure, they wondered who the father of the baby was, but they weren't going to pressure her into telling them since they knew that she was probably still processing everything. At least not yet, anyways.

Once they were all in the car and Pauly had started driving, Meryl could tell that Cher's attention was somewhere else. She smiled when she noticed that Cher had her hand rested on her stomach.

Meanwhile, a lot of thoughts were currently going through Cher's head. She was thinking about the night that the baby was most likely conceived, that thought made her smile slightly. She was also thinking about how she was going to tell him, considering he was still married. She hadn't realized that she had been resting her hand on her stomach while she was thinking about everything. She was brought out of her thoughts when she heard Pauly start to talk. Pauly said, "Hey, you should probably eat. Do you want to get something to eat before we go back to your house?"

She nodded and said, "Sure, I'm fine with anywhere you guys want to go."

Pauly said, "Italian fine with everyone?"

At the same time, they said, "Sure, that's fine."

Pauly adjusted where they were going, to head to the local Italian restaurant.

After the dinner, they got back into the car and both of them looked at Cher. Meryl said, "The food didn't make you nauseous, did it?"

Cher let out a small laugh and said, "No, I'm fine."

She paused for a moment before she continued, "During dinner I was thinking that it may be easiest to tell my family together instead of trying to tell them individually."

Pauly said, "Did you want to do that tonight?"

She shook her head, "No, tomorrow would better, just mainly because tonight is our night."

Pauly smiled and let out a small laugh, "Okay, that works. You should probably talk to them now to make sure that they are available tomorrow."

She said, "That's probably a good idea."

After getting back to Cher's house and Cher had finished her calls, they decided to relax, just the three of them. They all got into more comfortable clothing before putting in a chick flick that could be heard in the background while they talked to each other. After that movie was over, Meryl put in the movie Book Club, since the three of them hadn't seen it yet and it had just come out on dvd. As they were watching it, both Pauly and Meryl were unaware of Cher's reaction to Andy Garcia, but she was also unaware of it herself. The moment she saw him, she had subconsciously placed her hand on her stomach.

After the movie was over, they decided to go to Cher's room. They ended up all falling asleep on her bed, even though there was enough beds in the house for them to sleep by themselves.

The next morning, Cher was up before Meryl and Pauly. She had fallen asleep between them, so she wasn't quite sure how she got off the bed without waking them up, which she was glad about. She decided to surprise them, at least a little bit, by making them breakfast. She walked to the kitchen after she was done in the bathroom. She went through the pantry and fridge to see what she could make all of them for breakfast. She eventually decided to make pancakes with some eggs, just in case either of them wanted something with the pancakes. She was just about done, when she heard Meryl come into the kitchen. She turned to her and said, "Sit down at the table, breakfast is almost ready."

Meryl nodded before she saw that the table wasn't set. She quickly set the table for the three of them before sitting down. She heard Cher say, "You didn't have to do that but thank you. I appreciate it."
