A.N - Skip the italic if you can't deal with blood (it's only slightly tbh) so take this as a trigger warning. DM me if you want a brief summary of what it was.
Chapter 30 - Family
Run!
Kenize was screaming, piercing my ears. The thumping of my heart ringed in my ear while my little legs ran through the hall. Thump! Thump! Thump!
Her long blonde hair cascade down her back while she ran for her life, moving side to side down her back with the motion. My mother was shrieking with fear and helpless while she clung onto her kitchen cloth while the scene unfold in front of her very own eyes.
Run!
Suddenly, time frozen and the sounds were vacuumed up into a void. The cloudy blurriness in my pupils left me blind and unable to predict what was just about to happen. The room was spinning out of control while I tried to find a hint of light.
My hands reached out for something but only to find something sticky and thick; blood.
"Laila!"
No!
Her last breath was heaving through her throat while her lungs tried to reach out for more vital air but with the blood gushing, her body was struggling with staying alive.
No!
"Laila!" A familiar voice had screamed my name again and again until my eyes shot open with pure disturbance."Alex," I breathlessly said, wrapping my arms around his neck. I never felt so relieved to see him. To have him to hold me right after a horrendous night mare that had me shaking intensely.
I cried endlessly from the gruesome dream. My body was coated with a thin layer of sweat and my breathing was barley hurling through my lungs and out of my mouth.
The contrast of the cold room helped with cooling my body while Alex held me tightly. My head laid against his chest, easing the pain a little just by having him so close and accessible.
"It was just a dream, Angel." He whispered in my air. His hand clutched my lower back, pushing me closer to him. "I'm right here. You're safe."
Sobbing, I wrapped myself around Alex, taking him to full advantage for comfort. He slowly hummed a relaxing tune and unhurriedly rubbed my back to calm me down.
I breathed in and out, collecting essential air. Alex followed my breathing, gesturing his other hand up and down, motioning the right time to exhale and inhale. My wheezing settled down and my mind began to wrap around of what had happened.
My lips delicately pressed against his for a short kiss. He smiled once I pulled away. "Are you okay?" He inquired.
I nodded my head slightly against his firm chest, closing my eyes shut.
"You had me scared for a second." He let out a long sigh, pulling ourselves down onto the mattress, still holding each other.
Sighing, I kept quiet and allowed the numbing silence consume the atmosphere. His room was cold as a tomb and his room was pitch black but the early morning was about to illuminate the room with only a matter of time.
Having my night mare exhausted me to the fullest and had drained any energy I had stored in me. All I wanted was to feel happy again, however, Alex was still keeping a small fire lit of a piece of happiness. But all the recent events dragged me down into sadness and I wanted nothing to deal with it anymore.
