"Marinette..." Adrien sighed. He had decided it was finally time. He didn't care, he had to tell her, to get rid of that guilt that he had made Marinette feel so down by acting as if she cheated on him.
"Yes?" Marinette turned around. He could melt into her sweet smile, and it hurt him, thinking that she was going to hate him for it.
"I... Have something to tell you," He gulped. Could he really do this? Was he allowed to?
"Yeah?" Marinette gave him her full attention. "What is it?"
"You... Never cheated on me..." He shut his eyes to prevent seeing Marinette's shocked face, but once he re-opened them, she just looked confused.
"What do you mean by that?"
"You never cheated on me," He repeated, hoping she got it. He expected her to start yelling at him, to start getting angry. "You just kissed the same boy, that's all."
At first Marinette just stood there, not saying anything. She was speechless. She knew what Adrien was trying to tell her, but it was hard to believe.
Why would Adrien act like she cheated on him for so many days? Why would he let her cry to herself, best herself up, living with the guilt.
She looked down at the ground. "So then you're... Chat?"
Adrien nodded, but Marinette didn't lift her head up to see him.
"I'm sorry. I wanted to tell you sooner, I'm really sorry Marinette. I just couldn't bring myself to, and..." He waited for her to say something, but she stayed quiet. This wasn't a good sign. "I'm sorry."
He turned to leave. Maybe Marinette would talk to him later about it, or possibly never. But he wanted to leave to prevent seeing what Marinette's face looked like when she looked up.
But turn he stopped. He remembered the so many times he had left before, leaving in some more misunderstandings. Those time when he could do nothing but escape the situation for a while.
He turned back to Marinette, who had looked up. To his fear, she really had tears in her eyes.
"I... Why do you want to run away, I'm not mad," She sniffed. "I'm just glad."
He looked at he, surprised. "What? Really? How are you not mad? I made you feel so upset."
"I know, but I'm glad that I'm not a cheater," Marinette sighed. "And I'm glad I wasn't becoming a cheater."
"What do you mean?"
"I feared that I was falling in love with Chat all over again, and I knew that wasn't fair to you, but hearing this now... I feel much better, knowing that I fell in love with the same guy."
Adrien bit his lips. He had expected this at all. He moved forward and pulled her into a hug. She hugged back as well.
Then his phone started ringing, breaking the hug. He picked it up realizing it was Nino.
"Hello. Nino, what is it?" You're kinda ruining a moment here...!
"Adrien, you would never believe this," Nino exclaimed. "Lila got into a car accident and how she's in turn hospital."
"What?" Usually he wouldn't care about what happened to Lila, but this sounded serious.
"Yeah. The doctor said that there's a low possibility that's she's gonna make it. Will you come to see her?"
"Alright, I guess." He frowned, then hanged up. He looked to see Marinette, waiting for him to tell him what the matter was. "Lila got into a car accident."
"What?!" Marinette and Lila might have been enemies, but Marinette felt bad. She didn't expect this to happen, especially on the first day that due cake back to school.
"Yeah. Follow me to go see her." Adrien tool her hand and started dragging her to turn hospital.
And that's when Marinette realized that she still had a secret to tell Adrien.
