As the trio walked out of the theater, Eddie realized that clouds had begun to form. He hugged his body as he walked behind the couple.
Richie glanced back. "Hey, Eddie, mind if I walk you home?" Eddie looked at him. He was about to answer when Livia did it for him. "Wait Rich, I thought I was giving you a ride home?" Richie snorted causing the girl, who was nearly as tall as him, to smack him on the shoulder.
"Nah, I can walk. My house isn't that far." Livia looked at him in what seemed like annoyance. "Besides, I don't think your dad likes me." That part was rather true. Livia's father found Richie rude and disrespectful. It was just his sense of humor but Mr. Moretti didn't appreciate it. Via shrugged and took out her phone. She called her dad, letting him know it was time to pick her up.
"Well, bye!" She gave Richie a peck on the lips and hugged Eddie goodbye. He hugged back.
Richie waved goodbye and the two set off on their journey home.Eddie kept his eyes on the ground, neither of them speaking. Not even about what had happened in the theater. Richie kicked the pebbles on the ground, his hands in his pockets and his glasses slowly sliding down the bridge of his nose.
Richie usually wore contacts, which Eddie liked because it made Richie's blue eyes actually show, but today he decided to switch them out for his coke bottle frames. Eddie didn't mind.
Before they knew it, both boys were standing directly in front of the Kaspbrak household. Eddie looked up at the sky, instantly feeling a drop of water hit between his eyes. He blinked then sighed. He pulled his hoodie over his head and tugged down the sleeves of his sweater so that they covered his hands. Eddie turned and looked at Richie. "Okay, well this is my stop." He said smiling awkwardly. Richie nodded and returned the same type of awkward smile. "Right."
Eddie shivered as he felt more drops of rain fall and hit his back. "It's raining." He said softly. Richie nodded "Hadn't noticed." The brunette scoffed, then smiled to himself. "I don't want you to go home all soaking wet. You wanna come inside?" Richie smiled "Si señor!" He responds in a hispanic accent.
So the brunette grabbed the raven haired boy and pulled him away from the rain, wanting to be inside, snuggled up in a blanket near the fireplace, drinking hot cocoa, and watching rom coms.
"Dad?" Eddie called out. No answer.
"He's probably still at work.." He mumbled. "Oh, goodie!" Richie exclaimed as he kicked off his shoes and plopped down on the couch.
Crap eddie thought. He hadn't noticed that his dad's car wasn't in the drive way.He expected Frank to be home already. Now Eddie was alone. With Richie.
"Don't you, um, wanna change into something warm?" The short boy asked. Richie looked at him. He had the remote in his hand and had been about to turn the tv on. " I have your spare clothes in my closet if you want them."
"Can I shower?" Eddie didn't mean to, but he did, he blushed. "Uh.. y-yea yea sure. Bathroom, upstairs." Richie laughed "I know where your bathroom is, Eds." He ruffled the boy's hair and ran up the stairs, to Eddie's room.
Eddie regained his posture, fixed his hair and walked after Richie.
Richie was in Eddie's room searching for his clothes. He knew Eddie had said closet but his mind was focused elsewhere. He walked over to Eddie's white drawers. He opened the one on the top. Makeup.
The second one contained a large variety of hair accessories from barrettes to butterfly clips to even scrunchies—Eddie liked to wear them on his wrists. And then Richie opened the third drawer. The drawer. Inside of the drawer wear Eddie's neatly folded underwear. Pardon, panties.
Richie blushed. He hadn't meant to look for them. Well, maybe he had but not specifically.
Just then, he heard Eddie's footsteps nearby. He quickly shut the drawer with a loud bang.
Eddie walked in. He stared at Richie with a confused expression. "Everything okay?" Richie nodded and stepped away from the drawer, scratching his head and clearing his throat, he says, "Yeah. Uh, Yeah. Yes.""Did you find your clothes?" The brunette questioned as he sat down on white silk sheets. He rested his hands on his lap and waited for Richie's answer. "Nope." Eddie growled. "I have to do everything."
He stood up from his comfortable position on his bed and walked over to his closet.Richie stared at him. The way Eddie's sweater was a size too big on him made his heart skip a beat. And how well Eddie suited that skirt made Richie feel things that a best friend shouldn't feel about their best friend.
Eddie took out two items from the hangers. A pair of light grey sweatpants and a white t-shirt. "Here. Want me to run the water for you too?" he said sounding angry. Richie just found it cute. "No, mom. I'm a big boy now." He winked, Eddie blushed.
"I'll be back princess. Don't miss me too much." And with that, the tall boy had walked out of Eddie's room and to the bathroom down the hall.
Princess. Eddie knew he was joking but the nickname. The nickname had the butterflies in his stomach doing pirouettes.
