Although the two boys were put to work together, they managed to get things done. None of them spoke of what had happened earlier. Richie couldn't even strike up a conversation without Eddie cutting it short and avoiding his gaze.
Eddie bent down to grab the popcorn that was hiding in the lower kitchen cabinets. Richie held back his breath as he stared at Eddie's perfectly round bottom, feeling his face turn crimson. He turned around and made a grab for the candies. He grabbed a handful of snickers, kitkats, gummy worms, etc.
He opened one of the chocolate bars and bit into it, savoring the taste. Eddie turned around and smiled. But Richie didn't notice. Eddie placed the popcorn bag into the microwave and put it at its time. The two stayed there as they listened to the sound of the corn popping softly.
Richie began to whistle, the sweet hums relaxing the smaller boy. Eddie backed up, accidentally bumping into Richie who grabbed onto Eddie's waist to prevent the boy from falling. Eddie turned around, face red from the embarrassment. "I'm sorry!" He apologized quickly before creating a barrier between the two.
Richie shook his head. "No biggie" He said cooly though he felt himself flush redder. Eddie nodded before averting his gaze.
Richie decided they should talk about.. well them. "Eddie, I-" just then the microwave beeped and the popcorn was ready. The raven head cleared his throat.Eddie carefully took out the bag, not wanting to burn himself. As he waited for the popcorn to cool down, he opened the cabinets and made an attempt to reach the bowls, his height limiting him from barely touching anything. Richie chuckled and Eddie rolled his eyes.
"Can you help me? Please?"Richie nodded and with zero difficulty, took out two bowls. He handed them back to Eddie, grinning.
Eddie huffed and took the bowls from him. "You're welcome short stack." Eddie rolled his eyes as he emptied the bag of popcorn into the two big bowls. Richie didn't mean to, but he inched closer to Eddie, smelling the familiar scent of strawberries and vanilla. Eddie turned around, bumping into Richie's chest. He looked up at Richie, their faces, yet again, too close.
"Richie! (Eddie!) I.." Eddie stuttered out as he gently pushed him back. "Some privacy?" He asked moving his left foot back in forth.
Richie noticed that instantly. It was a habit Eddie had picked up when they were younger. He would balance on his right foot, and slowly swing off his right one. He usually did this when he was uncomfortable or nervous. So Richie knew when to back off, feeling bad for invading the younger boy's privacy.
"Right, sorry." He said smiling shyly. Eddie smiled back, awkwardly. "Let's just um.. go watch the movie, yea?" Richie nodded, grabbed his bowl of candies and followed Eddie out the kitchen door. "We're still sharing popcorn though, right?"
Eddie smiled. "Of course, dummy."
