Shattered Sparks

Chapter:04

Victoria awoke to someone shaking her,slowly she she opened her eyes and looked at who was woke her up.She met blue eyes,the colour of sparkling oceans.The pair of eyes she looked at everyday in the mirror.

"Aidan!What?"

"Ugh....Where am I?What?What happened?" She muttered incoherently holding her hand against her head,trying to stop the little pricking feeling in her head.

"Vicky!You were asleep,"replied Aidan confused.

Victoria looked at her surrounding,she was at the railway station. 'Had I fallen asleep', she thought.

"vicky,you must have had one vivid dream.Lets go!I'm tired."

Victoria still couldn't shake the unsettling feeling,tossing it to the back of her mind,she focused on her brother. "Sorry bro,yeah it was a vivid dream",she said remembering bits and pieces.

"Come on Aidy,Let me give you a hug," she cooed before enveloping him in a bear hug that her brother received eagerly.

"Welcome back!"

"I missed you too Vicky"

"That nick name again",she shook her head seemingly annoyed,but was far from it.

They were walking back home,when they reached the lane leading to the cemetery.She stilled,was it actually a dream? It seemed anything but,she thought to herself.

Aidan was moving ahead of her so she ran to catch with him.Aidan was talking even less than usual today,they hadn't spoken much since they started walking back home.Normally,everytime he was back from a business trip he wouldn't ever shut up about his travels,always the show off.

But today,he was deep in thoughts.He looked pale and his face was stony.Was it her or was today strung up by conundrum? 'It's eerie,the sooner we get home the better',she said to herself.

When they were at the T junction,Aidan stopped walking.The T juntion had one road leading to her home and the other leading to the forest,where the villagers said you could find wild boars.Imagine the horror you would feel if a wild boar came charging at you,that was the picture Tori had when she looked at the forest.

"You go ahead Vicky,I'll just be a minute" Tori heard Aidan.

"Aidan,your almost home.Whatever you have it can wait," she said remembering the party.

"Victoria!Just listen to me!" He thundered.Aidan had never used this tone on her,the coldness in his voice seemed to numb her.

Tori was perplexed,what on earth was going on.She shook her head.her face mirroring her turmoil.

Aidan held his hands on her face and kissed her hair, "I'm sorry Victoria,but please go home," he pleaded.

Tori stepped back,"You're acting weird Aiden",she pointed.

He stepped closer. "Tell mom,I love her.I love you Vicky, just stay strong," He whispered.

Tori noticed a finality to his tone,the tone that carried pain.

She looked around helplessly,and turned her back to him and that's when she was pushed to the ground suddenly.When she broke the fall and turned to look behind,he was gone.Aidan was gone!

"Aidan!"

"Where are you?What?" she shouted tears pouring out of her eyes in confusion.There was no one.

"Aidan!" She screamed.There was no response and it was like no one had been with her to begin with.Where had he gone?She walked to and fro from one lane to the next,and nothing.She found nothing.A flight response overtook her body,she had to go home, she had to tell her mom that something was wrong. She ran home feeling worthless

Panting Victoria opened the door and shouted, "Mom!"

"Aiden!He....." she trailed off as she looked at the state her mother was in.Mrs.Sparks was lying on the ground,her hair was disheveled,and a phone lied next to her.

"Tori..Your brother..."Her mom hiccuped.

"Mom",she said cautiously. "You're scaring me."

"He had an accident Tori!Aidan,my baby!" Her mom wailed. "They are bringing his body home!" She sobbed uncontrollably.

"No!No,no, no, no," whispered Tori.

"Mom!He was just outside with me! Mom!" she shouted at her mom,but her mom just stared at her lifelessly.

"They are wrong!NO!!!!!!!!!!!!" Victoria screamed as she fell on the ground,unable to bear the weight of her whole world collapsing on her.
