The bell rang signalling the end of the period."Students,I want you to draw the structure of a typical vertebrae and all other main vertebrae types,as homework,"came the elegant but strict voice.

Victoria looked at her students, some of them were bound to give so many reasons to not do their homework so just to be clear she added,"this would a graded assignment."This made all their faces go hilariously go dim, well, everyone including her had felt this way at school she thought.

She gathered her things as her students left the classroom, she sighed as it had been a long day and her day was far from being over as she had a party to attend, tonight. Her father had organized a party, surely to impress his potential clients and being his daughter, she was forced to attend.Victoria had never liked these parties,as all these socialites seemed like hungry vultures looking for opportunities, while she had to play the part of a pretty doll.

When she came home, she was greeted by the household help who were busy preparing the house for tonight. She climbed the stairs and proceeded to the very room, she never liked to enter, but her heart wouldn't just allow her not to.Gently opening the door,Victoria saw her mother lying lifelessly on the bed with IV tubes attached to her body. Her mother who had brought the life in a room by just her mere presence, lied motionless. She had been this way for two years now,her mother's cheeks had turned hollow and was deathly pale and everytime she Victoria saw this some part of her just disappeared.

There are times when you feel this indescribable feeling,it creeps into your heart. It doesn't bring pangs,as it usually does but feels like a part of your heart has just  disappeared. Poof! gone,as it were never there to begin with. That sudden emptiness you feel is wierd, and the thought if it once arises stays.Maybe not at the forefront, but just along the sidelines ready to pop up when something remotely related to that is seen. That was how she had felt and still feels.

The term 'deathly pale' caught her attention, where had she heard that before? And when? She held her mother's cheek gently,"Mom!Come back, please," she pleaded invain with tears clouding her eyes.

"Victoria!" A voice called out, breaking her from her emotional thoughts."Victoria, get ready quick, the guests will be here soon," her dad said in a gruff voice,as he stood near the door.

"Yes, Father," she replied in a monotone though she felt a little annoyed that her father had to shout here,in this room. For Victoria, being an emotional person, this room was special and she wished everyone to speak softly with respect in her mother's presence. But her father did not care for that,he had changed. He seemed to have even less time for his family, than he did before
