"Bones, bones, bones..."
"Hmm..Two temporal...."She mumbled, as she was grading some assignments. Victoria had to hand it over to her students on the day after and instead of working, she had procrastinated.
"This gets a ......"she read out loud, when the door of the study room opened.Victoria took a careless glance at the door and was about to turn back to her papers, when she registered who was walking through the door.
"Tori! My man! What up?" Came the exuberant voice of Eric. The dark head walked straight to her with arms stretched out, beaming. He hugged her or rather smothered her, before she even got up from her chair, making her squeal and laugh out loud.
"Eric!Let me go now!Wait!"She shouted in between giggles. When he finally let go,Victoria got up from her seat and gave him a light hug again. "I'm not your man,I'm a girl."
"You'll always be my man Tori," he joked as he ruffled her hair.Eric always called her that since they were kids.It had started the day she had demanded Eric and Aidan that she was a boy, when they had told her that they were too cool to play with girls. She had made a fuss and finally the boys had given into her.
"So where were you on Friday night?I searched for you, but you weren't there."She asked.
"Uncle finally made you attend huh?I left early, had some..errr...stuff to do."
"Stuff?"she raised an eyebrow.
He just smirked.
"Racing again Eric?"Victoria asked. He just smiled, and looked out the window avoiding her eyes.
He turned to her and looked at the table. "What's that?"He proceeded to grab a few of the assignments and flipped the pages. "Was this what got you mumbling, didn't grade them on time I suppose?"
"Kind of...I have to go out this evening to meet up with my friends, and I thought I would have time to grade them, and left it till the last minute, but seems like it will take time."
Eric shook his head, "You can always go out some other time," the workaholic in him speaking.Victoria narrowed her eyes at him, "Or you could just give up this and come work at the company."
"I love what I do Eric, don't you understand? How many times should I have to tell you that."
"You're just getting back at your dad." He answered, not caring one bit.
"I love teaching," she pleaded.
He tsked. "Ok,but tell me which friends are you going out with?"
"Isla"
"Aren't you friends with that girly girl anymore, the hot one with long legs?"He asked shamelessly.
Victoria threw a couch pillow at him in response, but still asked, "Who?"Then it clicked, "You mean Maisie?" she asked with eyes drawn into slits.
"Yup,her.The hot one."
She slammed a book on his head."The audacity!Shameless Eric!"
"I know you know her name, you did have a crush on her when we were in high school. So you still got the hots huh?" She wiggled her eyebrows. Her favourite cousin had to like the girl she didn't get along with.Fate was cruel she thought.
"What crush?I just appreciate beauty."
She looked at him slyly, "Sorry Erica boy, she's engaged or something." She said thinking about Maisie's claim that Jeremy would propose.
"Is she really?" He asked in surprise. "Oh!Well plenty of fish in the sea."
Victoria just stared blankly at her cousin, ever the ladies man.Girls flocked around him like bees, she didn't know what they saw in him, granted he was six feet tall and had handsome facial features, a trim beard, a body to kill for according to some 'friends' he had brought over one day.Thinking about that made her want to puke.
Eric received a phone call from work.It seemed that he was needed there urgently,he proceeded to say his goodbyes to Victoria. He kissed her head and rushed out the door.
"More time wasted," she sighed as she looked at the pile of ungraded assignments.
